Our compensation cheque from Virgin arrived today! It has only taken 3 months getting on for a dozen letters and emails and a very stubborn DH. We were initially offered an insulting £73 for the hotel being under renovation & losing our reservation so saying we had no room on Christmas Day and a list of other problems that goes on and on. They followed that up with several letters admitting they were at fault (we had 9 sorry's in one letter) but no attempt at putting their money where their mouth was. Anyway to cut a very long story short we dug our heel in and got £301 back (about 10%) so was worth the wait
