Hi! We are planning our trip for October. My DS will be 3 and this will be his third visit to WDW! I'm trying to get my list of restaurants together and I know I want to do two character meals - we went to Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace last year and my son LOVED them!! He LOVES LOVES LOVES Mickey Mouse and Pooh, too. I know Crystal Palace is our only choice for Pooh, but I'm wondering if we should try something new with Mickey? It looks like our other choices are Garden Grill, Tusker House and the Ohana Breakfast. I'm just wondering - should we stick with Chef Mickey's? I would love to hear others' opinions.

Also - we've done the Ohana dinner twice with him and we loved it, but thought maybe Whispering Canyon instead this year?

Thanks for any thoughts or advice!

I have heard garden grill & ohana are also good you may want to try them. Last year we did Chef Mickey and had a good time food was good nothing to complain about. this year i would like to try something different, either Garden Grill or Mickeys Backyard BBQ (just worried it may be too hot in August for that one though).

I'd say try something new!

I have been to Chef Mickey's and it's good, but we really enjoyed the dinner at Garden Grill last October. The food was very good ( family style all you can eat ) And there was LOTS of interaction with the characters.

We were a larger group so the meal took a bit longer, but we got to see every character several times. Each time they stops for photo ops or just to say HI.

Ohanas is great! Our family really enjoyed the decor, characters, and food!:rotfl:

"Ohana's Breakfast is a Blast ...especially with little ones...I've been 4 times...

My family got 'stuck' on "traditions"...which I believe is "okay"...because my DS will tell you that his FAV thing about WDW (overall) is Teppan Edo...and it means he had some good times there over the years....He is 18 now....and has been to WDW 10 times....

However...now I find myself wanting to try everything at once...and unable to give personal opinion on dis about more than a handful of TS restaurants...SO

I would say...try new ones this visit.... NEXT visit... stick with one as a FAV for the Family ...for familiarity and tradition....

Just IMHO....

I'm hoping to go in May with DS and try some newbies...BUT ....of COURSE ...the first thing he said...was to Book Teppan Edo... !!!! We are skipping CRT for the first time....which will be sad....

Hugs,
Mary

I try to mix things up when I go and eat half at old favorites and half at new places.

Although this upcoming trip, out of 7 ADR's, 5 will be completely new and I couldn't be more excited!

We also like to try new restaurants, and usually only repeat one or two tried and trues each trip. I would suggest Tusker House breakfast for Mickey -- we really enjoyed that one!

Have a great time planning!

This is what we do as well. A few old favorites, but mostly new places. WCC is on our repeat list, we love the food there. With a 3 year old though, they might be a bit young for the humor, maybe not.

Wow! Thank you so much, everyone, for the advice! It's so hard to decide and I feel like I'm putting a great, big, fun puzzle together! I made my "short list" last night and I think you convinced me to try a new Mickey meal! And thank you for the advice on WCC - maybe will stick with Ohana as I don't think a visit would be complete without visiting Poly.

Thank you again!

We're doing a little of both in May. We just went in Sept & had our favorites. Crystal Palace being one of them. So we are doing that. I recommend keeping Crystal Palace, but just so you know, Pooh is also at 1900 Park Fare breakfast at GF. Along with Tigger, Mary Poppins, Alice & Mad Hatter. We did that and it was good. We liked Crystal Palace better though. We stayed at BLT and did Chef Mickey's twice this time. What I liked about Chef Mickey's was that it had BOTH Mickey & Minnie. However, in May we decided to skip Chef Mickey's (which I hope not to regret), and am doing Tusker House (for Mickey) and Cape May (for Minnie, since she is my favorite and we are at Beach Club Villas). I'd do Tusker House because although Minnie isn't there, Daisy is there!! Plus I don't really like Stitch!
