Good places to eat outside of DL? Looking for cheap to moderately priced places. I figured one meal we'd just do IHOP, since I've read it's cheaper there than Denny's. Is there other locally owned places that are good, though?! Thanks!

OK, if we are talking outside the East Transportation Hub...

Love Mimi's Cafe at the corner of Harbor and Manchester.

Panera Break is OK

The Pizza Press is great, but has to close in April (subject to change) to allow the building of the new Pedestrian Crossing.

I would pass on the IHOP and Denny's. And I would AVOID Captain Kidd's at all costs (And that is my number 1 suggestion in this post)

Tony Roma's is OK

On Harbor at Katella, the Subway Sandwich Shop is what it is, also the Chinese plate buffet is OK, and the Mexican place is good.

At Anaheim GardenWalk looking at the lower end of pricing, Love Fire + ICE, an all you can eat place, primarily Mongolian BBQ and salad bar, but other things are also offered.

Johnny Rockets is another chain store that is good for what it is near Fire + ICE, and next to the new House of Blues location.

So that would be a good set of places within most people walking distance.

Want cheap and good, I love Del Taco, they do great "american" Mexican Fast Food and very good burgers, lots of fresh ingredients prepared in store, unlike its main competitor, Taco Bell, that has most things prepared in a central kitchen, and just heated and assembled in store. On Katella near the I-5 freeway.

For us, Disney is an expensive habit that we only afford by being careful about the little things like food expense. The Subway at Katella and Harbor is great! We can split a foot long and add in food we brought or got on a local grocery run.

Another cheap splurge is finding a coupon for Rain Forest cafe, getting the free appetizer and splitting the entree.

Pizza Press has become a local chain with a few stores, and they are actively looking for a new location near Disneyland. Might have to wait for something to get remodeled/rebuilt, as most of the current food locations have long term deals with the land rights they get from the Hotel/Motel next to it. They might also be waiting to see the final plans approved by the city in regards to pedestrian traffic flow.

And based on the problems with city hall and getting the final OK's for the bridge project, they might get a month to month extension to operate until they have to tear the building down.

I second Mimi's - sign up for their emails, they have tons of great coupons like b1g1 or free muffins etc. iHop is horribly expensive on Harbor. I had $35 in gift cards and thought that would cover breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child. Our bill came to over $55 for 2 stacks of pancakes (one of those a kids), egg platter, coffee, chocolate milk and soda.

There is a Red Robin, Outback, Joe's Crab Shack, Oogi's, and Bucca Di Peppo on Harbor.

FYI, those restaurants are not within walking distance, basically all in the city of Garden Grove south of Disneyland at the corner of Harbor and Chapman. Great if you are staying at one of the Hotels near them, but IMHO not worth the drive looking for lower priced options.

Not a restaurant, but the Cold Stone Creamery attached to Park Vue Inn on Harbor Blvd. has delicious ice creams!

I agree about Del Taco. They do make good nachos, called Macho Nachos.

There are some decent priced restaurants in DTD. Rainforest Café, Earl of Sandwich, and Taqueria at Tortilla Jo's (the take out window at Tortilla Jo's Restaurant. Plus, I would suggest Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Californian Hotel. Their individual pizza comes with a nice size salad for under $10. Lots of choices there and the prices aren't bad, plus the outdoor seating is wonderful! Inside seating is nice too.

The 7-11 store, in the same area is also good for getting general groceries from too, not as far away from DL as Target is, particularly if you're not staying on Harbor.

In terms of meals though, if you're willing to eat in your hotel room and get a takeaway then there's a wide choice, plus it's quite a bit cheaper than eating in a restaurant. Most if not all takeaways do deliver to the hotels within Disney District. Just check the local monthly magazine adverts that are usually available at the hotel.

Well, cheaper than the 7-Eleven (North West corner) you now have CVS (South West) and Walgreens (South East) to buy basic groceries including milk, and a larger selection of boxed and canned goods, and I think they even carry basic bread and other bakery items, plus picnic items to serve the food with. And looks like they are cheaper than the 7-Eleven, though the 7-Eleven does have some good sale items each month. Plus the 7-Eleven has a few Hot cooked items for sale.

I would still head north 3 miles up Harbor (The OCTA Route 543/43 is great and an ART Pass works on both ART and the OCTA systems.) to Orangethorpe, where you have the In-n-Out Burger at the bus stop, plus around the corner in regards to food... COSTCO, Dollar Tree, Super Walmart, Target and a Sprouts Farmers Market (a smaller and cheaper version of a "Whole Foods"). So lots of variety, and if you buy too much, you can always take a Taxi/Uber/Lyft back. OF course, that would be someone who has a large family (or a special item they want) and plan to buy bags of groceries. But CVS/Walgreens have good deals on cases of water, soda, beer, and the basic items that can be used in a Microwave. And these two Drug Store locations stock more groceries than a typical location, and know the basic kitchenette tools available in the area (Some Hotels/Motels have full kitchens, some just a small fridge and/or microwave, and stocks what sells).

I did not say they were within walking distance, I was mentioning them as options in the area. The OP did not specify that they be within walking distance.

I have been looking for a coupon for rainforest Cafe. For Feb. Any place I could fine one?

I've picked up a pamphlet sized flyer in the front of ART buses (just behind the driver) and in the lobby of the various offsite hotels we've stayed at.

Thank you all!! We're staying in Garden Grove, so between DL and there is perfect. I'll search around for coupons and sign up for some now!

Isn't this where Lee's Sandwiches is? I would recommend this place if you want to try Vietnamese sandwiches. The also have regular croissant sandwiches, Vietnamese coffee, and $1 French baguettes

Yes, there is a Lee's there, but there is also one in Garden Grove. So I would do In-n-Out Burger, named the best burger by many different folks, including many chefs and surveys/polls.

We always have a car with us when we visit so we often make the short drive to Little Saigon for meals. And if you're staying in Garden Grove, then you are very close. I'd recommend Brodard or Tp Bahn Bao #2 or Mint Leaf (for very good and cheap dim sum).
