Anyone ever eat at one of the featured restaurants either before or after Chef Gordon shows up?

It's soo funny you brought that up - I was wondering that too, and always meant to post it here on the DIS!

Never,, That show makes me want to never eat at a restaurant again.
I worked in a mess hall in the Marines and it was SPOTLESS.

It seems strange that the hostess is always a guy and is clueless.

I think Gordan Ramsey spends a long time with the resturant and they make us think they are only there a few days. How does he get people to change when they fight with him not to change in the beginning.

I have been to the restaurant in tuckahoe/yonkers last week, the food was always ok when I went, some cold stuff but nothing awful. The show actually called our job and asked if we wanted to come for the filming. They told us it was "Hells kitchen" which I thought was strange and assumed that they were taking that show on the road. When the hells kitchen started up I was waiting week after week for them to hit the road. Then the commericals for kitchen nightmares started and we all figured it out!:rotfl:

I cant say I blaime them for not telling us the name of the show was kitchen nightmares, I dont think anybody would have gone :rotfl2:

They did however lead us to believe that the food was no charge and the only thing you had to pay for was liquor. I did not go but a few of my friends did, my friend was the bald guy that ordered the "Kobe, medium well" . He still has not lived that down. My friends said the food was ok, and very expensive, some folks walked out when the checks started to arrive. That was that.

They also asked if we had kids and we could bring our families the next day to the community day. That was just a film shoot as well, not really a "community day" as it was a tuesday at 10 in the morning LOL . My friends said that Gordon was a gentleman, a nice guy

I've eaten food from the Mixing Bowl. It was delicious! It was before the show ever came out.

I grew up in Islip, Long Island the town that the Seascape Inn featured on Kitchen Nightmares is in.

Back in the 70's it was THE fancy swanky seafood restaurant in town. It was where my parents always went for dinners out and took us on very special occasions. I remember the food being wonderful, but that was a long time ago.

It certainly didn't look anything like I remembered it did on the inside when they showed it on the show.

I have never eaten in any of the restaurants, but i did see the woman from the seascape episode in a dr's office last week, she was there with her sister, when she went outside one of the office help went over to ask if it was really her.The sister said yes and when asked about the show said the family was very embarassed and her sister has her hands full with her son, they didn't sell they leased the building for 15 years.

I thought the show (Hell's Kitchen LOL) said the Seascape was sold after the showing...
