I'm taking my 12y/o fro a surprise trip in Aug-staying at the Doubletree. Does anyone know of places to eat that in walking distance?

It might have changed now, we went in 2001. At that time, there was a TGI Fridays and a Kobe Steakhouse both within walking distance.

Thanks for the help. :goodvibes I came across a thread a while ago that mentioned a cracker barrel somewhere in the vicinity but I can't seem to find it. I figure that would be a good place to eat a harty breakfast before heading to the parks. Anyone know if there's one?

Yes...the closest Cracker Barrel is located at 5859 Caravan Court which is right off of Major Blvd. It's in the area where you're staying...there's also a KFC, McDonald's and an IHOP over there too.

Metro is right there is a TGI Fridays across the street and down from that on carvan is a cracker barrel and the oppiste way across the parking lot is a golden corral and a burger king

There is a good amount of restaurants within walking distance. I stayed at
the Holiday Inn Suites right across from the Double Tree. TGI Friday's is
connected to the Holiday Inn. They have a breakfast buffet. As others
have mentioned, there is a Kobe Steak House, an Ale house, Golden Corral
(which also has a breakfast buffet), Burger King, Wendy's, Mc Donald's,
KFC, IHOP. There is also Carrabas an Italian restaurant and a Chinese food
place. We did not have a car so it was great to have so many places we
could walk to. There is also a Walgreens which was great. If you forget
anything you can always pick it up there. Don't forget Citiwalk. You can
walk to the parks from the Double Tree if needed. A cab ride from the parks
to the hotel if you do not want to wait for the bus is about $4-5.00.
Great location.
