Hi,

We're staying at Windsor Hills in November and I would love some recommendations for child friendly restaurants nearby for dinner?
What grocery stores are in the area?
Also we won't arrive until around 8pm on a Sunday night and won't have a car until the next day, is there somewhere to pick up some food close by for that first night and the next mornings breakfast?

Thank you :)

There are a lot of places close by. Turn out of WH and head toward 192, take a left and you will see soooo many restaurants. Chuys, Texas Roadhouse, ale house, Bahamas breeze, sweet tomatoes, flippers pizza.... ANd there is a publix grocery store and a super target also. Hope this helps, have a great trip!

How are you getting to W.Hills to arrive at 8pm ?

The nearest Food Store is a good few miles away , as pointed out in post 2 by Stacy Hood. And not easy to get to at that hour.

So either " Order a Pizza " after arrival OR Hire your car on arrival rather than next day.

There are several eating places at the junction of Hwy 192 BUT that is a good mile from W.H.

Golden Corral ( All you can eat Buffet ) And Cracker Barrell are also nearby on Hwy 192.

Most eateries start winding down their food selections at about 9.30pm

My advice is Order a pizza ..... go to bed .... Up early to collect car & then shop at " Publix " or "Target."

( Both on Hwy 192 West # left on joining from W.Hills. # and opposite each other At Millers Ale House & Longhorns )

We'll get a transfer from the airport to WH. We're flying in from Australia via LA and land in Orlando at 5:35pm, I was presuming by the time we got our luggage etc we'll get to WH around 8pm. We won't be in any state to drive ourselves after travelling for around 24 hours :crazy2:

Good idea about ordering pizza for the first night. Do they deliver it right to your door at WH?

You will be a Domestic Passenger when you arrive in MCO. so there will be no Immigration .

And as you say Not ready to Drive " On the Wrong side of the Road " or an Automatic drive car .

We Flew from Ireland to Brisbane 2 years ago , & loved it.

Drove down to Sydney & back ...... then drove to Agnes Waters & did the boat trip to " Lady Musgrave Island "

& then to Rockhampton & back to Brisbane. really enjoyed that time.

We travel to Florida twice a year & have done so for 14 years ... so know a good bit of Florida ( Outside of Theme Parks ).

On the 23rd June we are off to Munich & The Black Forest Area .

Any more help needed ..... just ask ..

As you head west on 192, you will pass The Market on the left. It is a tourist trap rip off. Keep going west.

You will find the Target and Publix, as others have mentioned. I have done a grocery price analysis and determined you'll get huge savings if you go to Walmart instead. To find Walmart. Keeping going west until 192 ends, take 27 North. Walmart is right there. Perhaps 5 or 10 minutes away from Target.

Woodview, we are just north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast.
I forgot that we'll only do immigration and customs in LA so hopefully we'll be at the house by about 6:30-7pm.

How long does it take to get from MCO to WH? Google maps tells me 30 minutes, is this accurate?

This is correct...but during that time of day though it could take up to 40-45 minutes with traffic.

I always go to the Publix south of Windsor Hills. Just take a right out of the resort onto Old Lake Wilson Road. It's off of Lake Wilson Road on the right, I believe. There's never any traffic and hardly any lights going that way. It's also a little more away from the crowds.

Good thinking ..... forgot about that Publix.

There are a few " Take away " places there

Also A Wells Fargo Bank

We found the Super Target to be MUCH less expensive than Publix. It's a really BIG Super Target and it has a big section when you walk in filled with tons of Disney merchandise too.

That's good to know, thank you :)

Another vote here for Target. Great store. If you can't find what you need there, it doesn't exist. Also, MCO is pretty quick about getting passengers out of the airport. The luggage transfer is very quick as is disembarkation. We are usually off the plane and out the door with our luggage to the car rental ramp in 40 minutes. The trip to WH is about 30 minutes. Have cash ready for the multiple tolls. I would suggest having about $10 in US quarters to ease your toll experience during your visit. Several are not manned and require exact change.

We will most likely get a private transfer from the airport to Windsor Hills, so at least rolls of quarters are one less thing to worry about!

Thanks again :)

Have to agree about Target. The store is amazing and carries so many food options even organic! I came home to my Target and what a let down :( got spoiled in Disney for sure.
