Here are the 7 table service restaurants that I booked. What are your thoughts? Did I make a bad choice? Would you change something? We are a family of 4 with two boys 9 and 11.

Hollywood and Vine for Fantasmic
Teppan Edo
Boma supper
Boma breakfast
Tusker House Donald breakfast
Spirit of Aloha - 2 credits

Thanks!

we did Hollywood & Vine in May for Fantasmic...was busy & a bit loud but the food & service was good. Lots of variety & everything was restocked constantly...any lines we encountered at the buffet stations moved very quickly.

We did Boma supper...really, really hated it. Also loud & very busy, but lines at buffet lines did not move quickly (not set up to accomodate the huge crowds they get.) And you better be adventuresome with exotic taste combinations...cinnamon ribs, for example. And watermelon/tomato salad. Nut-encrusted salmon that looked de-lish but was so hot (spicy) that it burned your tongue. We found the food to be either excessively spiced or totally bland...no happy mediums for us. If this is what you're looking for, then you'll like it. Many people do:confused3

Now we have not done Boma's breakfast...perhaps there are more common breakfast foods, and less of the exotic spice combos & extremely hot-spicy foods?:confused3

Tusker House for Breakfast is GREAT :thumbsup2 Good Food and the characters are fun!

we did h&v for the fantasmic package also our first time...hated it.
disney generally doesn't do buffets well, with the exception of chef mickeys, but we thought this was just awful!
mama melrose is our preferred, but to each his own right....you never know until you go......you gotta go with your gut to a certain extent.

I booked Boma reluctantly, but we are staying at AKL and it is convenient and I thought it might be fun to try some foods outside of the norm. We'll see - I'll let you know what we think.

I think your choices look good. We didn't do Boma for dinner, but I agree, since you are staying there it's a choice we would have made. I disagree that Disney doesn't do buffets well, they just do them different than those outside the resort. We loved Boma for Breakfast.

We have also eaten at H&V many times and have always enjoyed it. We don't mind loud and crazy most of the time. My kids (now DS13 and DD16) have a tendency to be boisterous so a quiet environment doesn't suit us.

Hope you have a great time. Your boys will probably LOVE Fantasmic, mine does.

Last time we went we did H&V for the package and we hated it. I didn't like the buffet choices, the food wasn't that great and it was loud and noisy. The whole dining experience just left me feeling very irritable.

ETA: It wasn't just me who hated it. My whole family decided it was the worst dinner of the trip and we would not be going back.

We've only done one of your choices and it was H&V. Personally,w e would not recommend it to anyone. We've been twice and both times we had terrible service, the place was dirty, the food mediocre and lukewarm.

I liked the HV dinner. I hated the breakfast. We ate early and the crowd was very light and the noise wasn't bad at all. I'm doing the Tusker House breakfast and the Spirit of Aloha in March. Can't wait.

Our Fantasmic pkg was at H&V, the meal was fine go and enjoy.
The same issues you've read about H&V I've read about Mama Melrose; just try it for yourself.

Boma dinner was fantastic and I hear breakfast is just wow; enjoy them both.

We also did HV for the fantasmic package and found the food to be good. There was something for everyone (kids ranged fom 4-20)
Because of the fantasmic perks we were very happy, didn't have to worry about seating which was a plus. The server there also gave our oys special pins...Maybe you too Have fun!:yay:

First the bad news... I have never seen a good review of Hollywood & Vine, everyone seems to detest it, I haven't been there, so I don't know first hand, but you may want to check out the reviews...

Teppan Edo is good and will be highly entertaining for your boys for sure!

Boma is fantastic for both breakfast and dinner!

Tusker House is going to be very similar to Boma as far as the food, you may want to consider a different breakfast location for one of them if you want more variety.

Spirit of Aloha looks fun and I want to try it someday, but I haven't yet.

Have a magical trip!!!

DH and I love Boma's dinner. And don't worry about your boys; they have a lot of food that kids will eat. They're also accommodating about food allergies and such. My suggestion is take a little of the dishes that look interesting to you, then go back for more of what you liked. Oh, and two words: Soups and Stews! They were the best things offered, maybe the best things we've eaten at WDW (and, for me, that includes CG and YSH).

Hollywood and Vine for Fantasmic - We personally do not like H&V
Teppan Edo - YUM! We LOVE hibachi!
Boma supper - Never been
Boma breakfast - Never been
Tusker House Donald breakfast - Thought this was very good and we had a fun time.
Spirit of Aloha - 2 credits - we prefer the HDDR!

First the bad news... I have never seen a good review of Hollywood & Vine

I personally wouldn't let this make my decision for me. I read a lot of reviews before I made my ADR's for our trip in August. It was our first family vacation to Disney, and I wanted to make sure it was going to be great. The problem was that we have simple, basic food tastes. No one in my family is into anything exotic, or out of the ordinary. We went through menus for just about every restaurant in Disney World, and carefully chose restaurants that DD13 (probably the pickiest eater in the family) liked, but when I started reading reviews of those restaurants, many of them got poor reviews (Coral Reef, Tony's Town Square, Planet Hollywood . . .). That made me a bit nervous, but eventually I decided that any restaurant which was that bad wouldn't still be open, so we went ahead and made ADR's for all the restaurants that DD13 chose.

Planet Hollywood (and I read some REALLY bad reviews on it) turned out to be the favorite of most of my family. Tony's was good, Coral Reef was good, we really didn't have a bad experience at any of the restaurants. With that in mind, I say give it a try, and form you own opinion, don't be concerned with what others have written in reviews.

Have you done Sci-Fi?? The boys would probably enjoy it! Heck, everyone would

We did not like H&V at all but there aren't that many choices for the fantasmic package. I have considered before paying OOP for Brown Derby fantasmic package - it's $36 or so but it's a 2 credit place and i think paying OOP for that would be a decent deal.

We absolutely HATED H&V when we went. In fact, every single dining experience we had was great except H&V. Of the ones you've got booked, we have done H&V dinner, Boma breakfast, and Teppan Edo. Here are links to our reviews of each with pictures. Hope his helps!
