We're on the DDP and are looking for a restaurant for our first night. We don't like any of the choices in Downtown Disney, so we're hoping ther's a good resort restaurant within walking distance. Anyone??

None that I can think of, especially within walking distance on the DDP outside of DTD. WPE serves a wide variety of food between entrees, personal pizzas and sandwiches. It is a great value of a CS on the DDP.

Definately go to the Turf Club in SSR. I discovered this little gem last year, when I got upgraded on the 4/3 deal. You can walk right over to the main building from DTD or you can take the water taxi, which lets you off right at the base of the restaurant.

Then you can walk back to the transfer station and take the bus back to your resort.

SSR is within walking distance; OKW is a water taxi ride away, as well as POR. All three have excellent restaurants and take the dining plan.

What do you consider walking distance? Crossroads is about 3 miles from DTD. streets have sidewalks so it's a perfectly safe walk. There are a few chain restaurants there (fridays, olive garden, etc)

You didn't mention which resort you'll be staying at. Since you're focusing on DDT are you at SSR or OKW. If you're at a different resort there may be options at some of the resort closer to you.

I second the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs! :thumbsup2

Turf Club at Saratoga and Olivia's at Old Key West are both 1 table service credit restaurants, so take your pick.

As others have said, there is a boat that you can take from Downtown Disney, but there are also walking paths to get there. I've done both. I prefer the walk, even though others might find it a bit on the long side.

It's trickier to walk to OKW if you don't know the walkways well. The boat would be a better choice.

I forgot about SSR and OKW.... You consider Boatwright's an excellent restuarant? Really?:rotfl:

We're staying at PO Riverside. We don't care for Boatwright's or the menu at Raglan Road. I'm going to look up both Turf Club and Olivia's at the nearby resorts. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Love the Turf Club (SSR) & Olivia's (OKW), I've had great meals at both!
SSR is an easy walk or boat ride from DTD!

Is there a reason it has to be within walking distance of DTD? You can take a bus to any of the resorts from there, opening up the possibilities of Kona, Citircos, Whispering Canyon, Boardwalk, really anywhere. Thats the beauty of PO, quick boat to DTD, then any resort you choose!

kaybird......good point. We are already doing Boma, 'Ohanas & Whispering Canyon. Any others you would suggest? Right now we're leaning towards The Turf Club @ Saratoga Springs. Thanks :)

A consistantly good one for us is Kona @ the Poly. We have never had anything there that was even average! Great food, you can take the bus from DTD or go to MK and take the Monorail. Our favorite signature is Citricos at GF.

Is Paradiso 37 on the DDP? Thanks!!

No, it's not on the DDP.

And just a note on travel arrangement from PO to SSR...if you take the boat from Riverside, you will dock at the Marketplace. You have two choices there. You can either walk to SSR. Or you can take boats the whole way...but if you want to take boats, you have to get off the boat at the Marketplace, and then either walk to or take a separate boat from Marketplace to the West Side, then switch boats to the SSR boat. So basically, 3 boats to get to SSR from PO! And it will take you more than an hour to do that.

We enjoyed Turf Club. Olivia's is OK, but wouldn't go out of my way to get there again unless I had a car. In DTD, we loved Raglan Road (great entertainment there, too), as well as Wolfgang Puck Cafe's food (the table service restaurant, down in the West Side)
