We are looking at leaving a couple of days free of reservations for our Dec vacation so we can be more spont on that those days. Are there any good sit down resturants that may not need reserv.? We were able to get the Italian rest. last visit. I know that we are risking not being able to get in anywhere but would also be open to room service or maybe counter service.
Thanks.

We walked up to the GF Cafe for lunch in October.

We're going in Dec., too, after Pop Warner and I'm hoping we can have a couple of spontaneous days, too!

ESPN on the Boardwalk doesn't take ADRs. Or how about Marrakesh? That one is usually pretty easy to get in to, and the food is good.

You say your vacation is in December. When in December?

I know people who are now trying to make ADRs for December and are finding most everything booked except for off-peak dining times.

and the closer to Christmas you get, the worse it will be.

I would suggest restaurants at far-flung resorts (not near parks), Downtown Disney, and restaurants that don't take the dining plan. I personally would not recommend that anyone count on walking into a theme park restaurant without a reservation during December.

We are going the second week of December. We have 5/7 days totally booked with reservations. I just don't want to have to spend all our time going from 1 to the next. We have ordered room service in the past and been very pleased with it. Thanks for the suggestions.

in feb. '08, we walked into ESPN club, since they don't accept reservations. The food was good, but that's just because i was starving!

We have had great luck with Spoodles at the Boardwalk on two separate trips. In October 2006 and in August 2007 we were seated there without ADR's within 5 minutes. Both times we got there right around 5:00 P.M. and both times we had excellent meals. Give them a try.

Trails End Buffet takes ADRs but they usually have openings day of, as I have heard :listen:

Oh, and I read a good review on here the other day of the Fountain, at the Dolphin. It's close enough to get to from Epcot or MGM or Boardwalk, and evidently doesn't stay as crowded as a lot of other resort restaurants. And, they give a AAA 20% discount!

I haven't had any problems making the ADRs we want so far for Dec. 14-19, BUT I have 3 lunches booked (b/c we're doing OOP this time). The whole week is only 3's and 4's on the UG calendar, so maybe this week is a little easier to get ressies. :confused3 I did call for 1900 PF for dinner at 180 days, and only had two time slots to choose from--but, called back yesterday, and was able to move our ADR up an hour. People must be changing their minds like crazy, or they're releasing more times AFTER 180 days, who knows?

We've walked into the following restaurants without ADR:

Sci Fi (sit at a normal table instead of car table)

Le Cellier (arrived just as restaurant opened)

Crystal Palace (very late breakfast)

Sit-down restaurant at Mexico/Epcot (several times at all times of day)

Marrakesh (several times at all times of day)

Had ADR at 50's Prime Time twice--
First, got checked in within a few minutes of our assigned time and sat for 90 minutes waiting for a table

Second time, line out the door to check in was LONG-- people in line had been waiting over 1/2 hour and weren't anywhere near checkin desk. Who knew how long the wait after checkin was. We skipped out on the ADR.

We have walked up to Spoodles and Cape May the last two Septembers.

The funny thing about Spoodles...we called WDW-DINE on our way there from Epcot and they said Spoodles was booked full for the night. We walked up anyway...to an empty restaurant and were seated immediately.

We've also done walk-up for late lunch at San Angel Inn in Mexico and at Kona at the Poly.

I's suggest Captains Grill at the YC.

The trick I use when I don't have ADR's, is about the time I sart to think about eating, I go to guest services, or use my cel phone to call WDW dining to see where they have openings at X time.
