Just came back from an OUTSTANDING week in WDW. Thanks so much to this board for all of the great tips and suggestions that all of you have posted. Just wanted to drop a quick review of the restaurants that my DW and I ate dinner at:
We ate at Le Cellier, CA Grill, The Rainforest Cafe in DD, Fulton Crab House, Yachtman's Steakhouse, Narcoosees, and Coral Reef.
Our rankings would be:
#1) LeCellier - The cheddar cheese soup was fantastic (how can you go wrong with cheddar cheese, bacon bits and beer!). We both had the filet mignon and it was outstanding. Great service (our waiter was Greg). I had read before that the tables we close together, but that didn't bother us - actually, most restaurants in WDW are a bit tight with space, but we made alot of new friends because of that. I had also read some posts that stated LeCellier is overrated. Our opinion is that couldn't be farther from the truth. This was our best meal.
#2) Narcoosess - Fantastic setting, on the water at the GF. The bartender (Rick???) was able to cure my wife's hiccups with a great trick. We had surf and turf followed with great chocolate cake for desert. Again, great service (waiter was Amir).
#3) Yachtman's Steakhouse - Took a boat ride from Disney Studios to Yachtman's, which was fun. Very good filet mignon. However, we both asked for the meat to be cooked medium and it was very rare. I was ok eating it like that but my DW sent it back. The flavor was great, service was excellent.
#4) California Grill - Great setting - on top of the Contemporary Hotel, where we watched Wishes from the front observation deck. I had the pork tenderloin that was very good. My DW had scallops which were good, but not great. Before you make reservations here, please check out the online menu to make sure there is something that that you like. Also had great service.
#5) tie between Coral Reef and Fulton Crab
Coral Reef - great atmosphere with the big aquariums. You will see turtles, anglefish, tarpons, and many other fish as well as human divers swimming by. Kids will like this place because of the atmosphere. Food was also good. DW had Grouper, which we never had, but will buy it again. I had the salmon. Both meals were very good
Fulton Crab - DW had delicious crab cakes and I had lobster tail and stone crab claws. My meal didn't have alot of taste to them. I would not order them again. Although the crab and lobster bisque was tasty.
#7) Rainforest Cafe in DD. We had not scheduled a dinner for this particular night but we were back at our hotel from visiting relatives earlier than we thought, so we ventured out to DD and stopped in the Rainforest Cafe. We sat at the bar waiting for our table. The drinks were good, but the meal was not. I had salmon and it was not cooked all the way through. I managed to eat the cooked parts and left the rest. My DW had natchos that tasted stale, so she ate very little of her meal. Our waitress came out and asked if we didn't like our meal and we told her about the natchos and salmon. She brought the manager out and we said the same thing. She took off the Natchos off our bill, which was fair (I ate most of my salmon), but we would not go back here.
In summary, it really really pays to do your reserach for the restaurants and the overall trip. This is a great resource to do so!
