We just finished our 4 day trip to Disneyland & DCA. It was our first trip back since 1999. Here is my reviews from the places we ate.

Day 1 - Lunch Blue Bayou. We split the Monte Cristo sandwich. It was very good more than enough to split. It came with a cup of gumbo or wedge salad. We decided to have both and they were excellent. I loved the dressing on the salad. I had a Mint Julep to go with my meal. It was a very good lunch. We liked everything. The only thing that bothered me was that they charge $4 to split a meal. We have never had to pay a split meal fee at WDW so I don't know why they feel they have to here.

Dinner Naples, Downtown Disney. This was the most disapointed meal of our stay. We split the Penne Con Pollo and it was not very good. Very bland and hardly any sauce. I had there house salad to start and that was very good.

Day 2 - Breakfast Cafe Orleans in Disneyland. I had the Three chesse Monte Cristo French Toast that was very good. If you like Stuffed french toast you will like this . My wife had the cafe scramble eggs that was very good also. She even got her bacon crisp how she likes it.

Dinner Vineyard room at DCA. This restaurant is only open on Fri, Sat. & Sun.We started with a flatbread that was very good but small. It was much smaller than at California Grill or Jiko at WDW. Next we had some type of pasta dish appetizer that was a rip off, $15 for maybe 4 bites of pasta. We split the Lamb shank for our entree that was very good ( not as good as jJiko at WDW though). It cost us $5 to split our meal here.

Day 3 we went off site for dinner.

Day 4 started off with breakfast at River Belle Terrece in Disneyland. We each had the Mickey Pancake. How can you go to Disneyland and not get Mickey pancake. After all you can get regular pancake anyday.

We had dinner at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in DD. It was our favorite meal of the trip. We started our meal with Roman Garlic Bread that was fantastic, the best garlic bread I have evr had. We split the 120z New York Strip that was done perfect. It came with Blue Cheese Dauphinaise Potatoes that were excellent. We had the best dessert that I have ever had. It was double chocolate bread pudding and it was to die for. A perfect meal and service was had here. I wish DD at WDW had this restaurant.

Day 5 going home day. We had just enough time to walk to DD for breakfast before we had to leave for the airport. We went to Catal in DD. I had the Buttermilk pancake with mixed berries and vanilla whip creme that was very good. It came with alot of mixed berries. My wife had the omelet with black forrest ham, Gruyere Cheese and country potatoes. She really enjoyed her omelet. It was a very good breakfast and we hope to try dinner here on our next visit.

We really liked our food during our stay except for Naples. The only thing I do not like is the split fee charge at Blue Bayou & The Vineyard room. I think it is unfare to charge this fee. We have never had to pay this fee in all the places we have ate at WDW.

I also forgot to mention that we had Dole Whips on more than one occassion.

Thank you so much for your review. OK, this took me since December to think why they do the split charge and it kinda makes sence to me, when they split the main course each of you are still getting the sides and I don't think that is split. I hope this makes you feel better, I was wondering why the first time I had that done also, DW they don't do that. :)

GailT, glad you liked the reviews. I would agree with you about the split plate charge if we were both getting sides. But in the case of both restaurants there was no more than one side brought out. In fact there was only one plate brought out with an empty plate for us to transfer the food. We travel to WDW at least twice every year and have never had a split plate charge at any of the restaurants. So why would they at Disneyland. Thanks for taking the time to read my reviews. We really had a great time visiting both parks. :)

Disneyland just began this plate splitting fee. And I have heard over on the Restaurants board people saying that WDW may begin to do the same thing. I saw a thread recently where someone split a plate at one of the resort restaurants and the waitress told them no problem but that in the future they may have to start charging. Another poster said they had been told the same thing. No idea if it will come to pass, hope not we frequently share at DL and WDW. That's too bad you didn't get the extra sides. Did they charge you for getting both the gumbo and the salad? If not then maybe you did get the extra side. I saw another reveiw from a plate sharer and they did get their food on separate plates with their own sides. Maybe some of the servers at DL don't know what they are supposed to do on this issue yet which is inexcusable.

Thanks for the reviews! I want to try Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen next time and am really glad you enjoyed it.

Re the plate splitting -- the last time we did it (at BB) we got the meal on two different plates with full side orders. Then I think the $4 charge is reasonable but in your case (when they just brought an empty plate) I think it's a total joke.

Glad you enjoyed your trip!

OH Ok, When I was at the BB in Dec we got the split plate, they brought us two plates fill each with half of the salmon then each a cup of gumbo pluse each a salad, I hope they didnt change that:)

Thanks for the reviews! Most of the places you ate are the ones we are trying next week with the exception of Ralph Brennan's. I live in New Orleans, so fortunately for me, I can enjoy that food whenever I want.

I agree about the split plate charge - just seems like they are starting to nickel and dime everything these days.

Glad you had a good trip.:thumbsup2

We got around their split fee at BB by ordering both an appetizer and a meal for us to split. The waitress asked if I was ordering the appetizer as my meal? I said yes and was never questioned. We got the appetizer at the same time as our other food, but whatever. Note: the kids split and they did not get charged the fee.

Thanks everyone for the replys. Since my wife lost over 100lbs about 5 years ago we have split many of our meals when we dine out. I hope this split plate charge does not happen at WDW too. If it does one of us will just order an appitizer for our dinner. Amy&Dan, yes I did pay seperate for my salad at BB. We really did enjoy the food at Disneyland and DCA.
