Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

We have a 6 1/2 foot fake tree that I've had for 8 years. I usually put it up the first week of December and take it down on Jan 1st or a couple of days afterwards.

I have 4 trees, all artificial.
Tree 1) 7 foot tree only decorated in Disney decorations (my favourite tree!!)
Tree 2) 6 foot tree outside, decorated in multicoloured round baubles.
Tree 3) 4 foot tree in my conservatory, decorated in blue and silver.
Tree 4) 3 foot tree on the table in my lounge, decorated in red and gold.

The trees went up the 1st weekend in December and will come down on January 2nd or 3rd.

We have artificial trees. One at home that's 6 ft. and we set it up around Thanksgiving and we usually take it down around January 8th. We have a small fiber optic tree in our kitchen for the same amount of time. Here in Cape May where we spend most of our Christmas's because DM (90) lives here, we put a small tree up on Thanksgiving and we'll take it down when we leave here on December 30th.

We also take part in DVC Christmas tree exchange. This year we sent a small tree to the VWL. We sent it down around the middle of November and it will come back to us around the first week of the year. It was shared by 5 families!

PS. Our Cape May tree has been with us for 11 years, ever since we bought this home. It was bought at a "Sugarplum Auction" to benefit the Dayton Children's Hospital. Sadly, this will be it's last year. Today I noticed that it's branches were not just sagging, but broken off. I'll keep the wonderful recipe/cooking ornaments, but we went out and bought its replacement this afternoon.

PPS. We had live, "to plant" trees, two of which are still growing in family member's yards. The oldest one of the bunch lives in Toms River NJ and is at our uncle's home. It was planted around 1975 when my DGP's live in the house, and the other is a smaller Alberta spruce that lives in Boston. It was planted around 2001.

Artificial, pre-lit here too. New one this year, when my most fave one died. :sad1: It's taller than me, is all I know, so 6 or 7 feet tall? Always goes up Thanksgiving weekend, and comes down in the New Year, sometime, when I feel like it. ;) I wish it was Christmas all year long! :santa:

Do you have any plans for New Year's Eve? Going to a party, hosting a party, staying home and watching movies?

How about New Year's Day? Anything special planned?

No parties, we don't drink so we don't go to parties. We will stay in and watch M*A*S*H. As for New Years day I am having dinner here, ham green bean and potato soup.

We aren't going to any parties either (but has nothing to do with drinking ;) ). We just like NY at home.
We might go to a movie on NYDay. Dinner will be roast beef, sweet potatoes, salad and maybe a new recipe for bread pudding that is in my pile.
NYE will be watching some movies.....maybe the new Harry Potter one. DH hasn't seen it yet.

We are staying in and watching tv. DH is going to cook a nice meal from our Disney cook book, cheese soup from le cellier, filet mignion from the YSH then creme brule from victoria and alberts.

No, I had to work our after Christmas sale, it wasn't to bad yesterday since we didn't have much left. I work in a gift store that sells Hallmark and we only had 16 rolls of wrapping paper left, last year we had lots. I worked from 9:30 - 11:30 am and the mad rush was over by 10:00. Last year it went from 9:30 till 11:00 without a break in our lines.

We have an artificial tree which we put up over Thanksgiving weekend and it will stay up till the week after New Years. It's about 9 feet.

Jean, do you have any of those little appointment calendars that Hallmark usually gives out free every year? My Hallmark didn't get them this year, they said they were cutting back. I can't find one anywhere!

Staying home where it is hopefully safer than being out on the streets that evening! ;) We'll be watching movies as well. Not sure what we are going to eat yet. Love being a couch potato and relaxing in peace and quiet. :goodvibes

We are staying home and having our neighbors in from our old neighborhood, they stay through New Year's Day. We will be watching movies, spending time in the hot tub, and doing lots of eatting. I usually have shrimp, meatballs and lots of junk food.

NYE is DSs BD and he has 8 free passes to one of those fancy movie theaters that serve food & drink, so while we get IN for free, I guess the food & drink is on me. NYD nothing planned. :confused3

Happy New Year everyone! :goodvibes

Yes we are going back to Disney next Nov. (5-12) :teeth: We were thinking of going May of next year too as John got an unexpected bonus, but we needed a new couch.

Nancy, you are a real gadabout! :rotfl: Lucky you! :goodvibes

We may go to WDW again in 2010. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Don't want to fly anymore though. Never liked it (can't stand the turbulence) and now with all that's been happening, I like it even less.

DH has been wanting to go to Gatlinburg again. He's driving me crazy about that! It's a 4 - 5 hour drive so not bad but I'm not ready to go there yet.

I'd really like to go back to WDW when the Christmas decorations are up so we'll see how that goes.

Hi everybody! We got home yesterday after a great Christmas trip to Virginia. Ate a lot of great food, had fun playing board games with the kids, saw the college freshmen (one had grown a beard while at school--my goodness, he's grown up!) & their little sister (who's growing into a beautiful young lady), all in all a good time. No drama (we're good that way), just lots of fun. Took 3 of the kids to Princess & the Frog ($32.50 on tickets, another $30 or so on popcorn/drinks/candy), great movie.

No trips planned this year. I'm a little afraid to plan anything yet, I've heard some rumors of shake-ups at work.

Good wishes on the work front, Missy. That is always scary.

Donna....hope you can plan on Dec. 2011, for the exchangers meet. Good way to see the decorations too ::yes::

I love to go on trips ;) And I love planning, so when $$ and money allow, I am all over it.
May fit in a short trip to Las Vegas too. It would be easier to plan things if I knew where we will be living.....that's why air gets done closer to trips.

We head back to WA this afternoon.....good to see my kitty, sad to leave my kids, the house here and the good weather!

I'm not certain about future trips now. We had tentative plans to go to WDW (staying at BCV) with our friends for next Christmas and New Year with a couple of days at universal too, but now we are not certain this trip will happen. If not we will probably go back to WDW in August instead and stay at AKL again then a few days at Universal. Or we might decide to go back to Vegas instead!! Either way we will be returning to the USA again next year!
