Restaurant Reservations

Our first Aulani trip is planned for May 5-11. I keep reading about making restaurant reservations as early as possible. What is the deal with cancellations? Am I better off making multiple reservations (for say the character breakfast) and then choosing day of whether or not we want to use them? Thank you!

Generally it is frowned upon to make multiple reservations when you don't intend to keep them all. Doing so deprives others of the ability to make reservations for those days.
