Help!

We've been going back and forth on details of our wedding day, and recently decided that since there is free dining for the length of the stay for our wedding, we could eliminate our reception that we were hosting at The Attic, and have everyone enjoy a dinner at a restaurant on the free dining plan, so that we could host a dessert party in Epcot (UK Lower) that evening. We just couldn't spring for both, and we think our guests (small, only 20 of us total) will LOVE the dessert party feeling.

But now I have no idea where to go for dinner :confused3
We'd like it to be in some proximity to Epcot, either walking or short cabs. We're looking at the earliest dinner seating so that we're not totally stuffed for desserts!

Any suggestions for us?

Thanks in Advance!

Would you be willing to use 2 dining credits for Yachtsman Steakhouse or Flying Fish Cafe at the BW?

Probably, we're going to be offsite for two days (Islands and Sea World), and while I made reservations for 8:30 those nights, most weren't thrilled about rushing back for it on the Islands of Adventure night.

Yachtsman sounds good! DF's grandmother won't eat fish, she claims she's cooked it too much in her life :rolleyes1

And you can't do something inside EPCOT?
You could do anything in the monorail resorts! The Wave(CR) is a good place and quiet. What type of dinner do you want? A character meal might be fun! You could do Chef Mickeys or 1900 Park Fare! :thumbsup2 Or OHana and Kona is good at the Poly!

If you are having a dessert party everyone will have to go into Epcot anyway so you could have dinner anywhere inside although if you have the credits I highly recommend Yachtman's as it is one of my DH's favorites. If you only want to use 1 credit you could try Captain's Grill.

Since you are going into Epcot for the fireworks show anyhow you might as well go in earlier for dinner and try to get in a few rides or attractions during that time. I would never use a one day admission just to get into the fireworks show. Why not plan that day as and Epcot day and start there in the morning and spend the day at the parks. If someone is tired they can go back to their resort for a nap or whatever and the rest can stay. Meet back for dinner later, then the fireworks.
It is going to be hard to plan something for 20 people because some might not want or like a particular country's fare. It might be better to go with the traditional chicken, fish or beef type restaraunt.
Are they a fun group or do you want a nice quiet sit down dinner?
I love group dinners at Germany,s Octoberfest. It is an all you can eat and you have to keep getting up for your food but you can ask for a table closer to the food for Grandma. The tables are long picnic tables with chairs, not benches. the ooompa band is fun and if someone has enough beer they might get on the dance floor for some great family video memories that will haunt them for years.
I would recommend Yachtsman's for a nice quiet refined dinner, or maybe France. (I have never eaten there seems too stuffy for me). I used to recommend England but their menu has changed so much and the food has gone down alot. these all are the traditional chicken, beef or fish places.
Many people talk alot about the restaraunt in China, again, I have never eaten there. But the view over the park is great.
I like the restaraunt in Japan but again it has been many years since I ate there.

And Flying Fish has one of the best steaks on property. It's a also a lovely place for a celebration, with wonderful service.

I was about to mention that about Flying Fish Cafe's steak. I hear better reviews on that steak vs. Yachtsman.

Correct me if I’m wrong OP – but I’m going to assume that you’ll still be in your wedding dress for dinner and this is why you’re having to look for a restaurant outside of the theme park?

Disney will not allow her inside EPCOT in her dress until they escort her for the Disney arranged Dessert Party.

I suggest either Yachtsman’s or Flying Fish. I haven’t been to Yachtsman’s but I loved FF.

But if I misunderstood your post and you won't be in a wedding dress, I still recommend FF for a nice dinner but Biergarten in the Germany pavilion sounds like it could be a fun venu for a wedding reception.

Flying Fish has a wine room that you could perhaps use for your party for a bit more privacy. Not sure about Yachtsman.

Either is a very nice choice for a wedding dinner.

Other choices for one TS credit at the Epcot Resort area: Captain's Grill, Cape May Cafe. The others would not work very well it seems to me: ESPN Sports Bar and the Beer Pub on the Boardwalk (I don't recall the name).

I think I would do Flying Fish and see if they could seat your party in the wine room area.

Yes, the reason we can't go into Epcot is because I'll be in my dress. Which is a bummer, but I'm not willing to change! We're allowed to go to the dessert party in my dress because it's a private event and we'll be escorted. If we wanted to eat in Epcot we'd have to book another private event - $$$$$$$$ :headache:

Thanks for the ideas! I hadn't even though about anything on the monorail - I think we're going to go with Chef Mickey's so we can get some pictures with characters - it's almost a thousand dollars to have them appear at the wedding for a half an hour :scared1:

Oh, and we won't be using park admissions. We have to pay a viewing fee for the fireworks (12.95 p.p).

I have to say Chef Mickey's would never be on my short list of places to go for my wedding dinner. FF or Yachtsman yes, buffet that reviews indicate are substandard? :scared1:

Have you eaten at Chef Mickey's for dinner before? I enjoy their breakfast, but I wouldn't recommend CM's for a wedding dinner.

For proximity to Epcot, Flying Fish.

Yachtsman, IMO, is just "ok" as far as steakhouses on WDW property.

My first thought was Yachtsman. I'd be way too nervous to have my dress at Chef Mickey's!

Congratulations! It sounds like a very nice idea.

I agree that Chef Mickey's would not be a good choice. The food is mediocre and your dress is more likely to get dirty there since it is a buffet with lots of kids running around.

Choose the Flying Fish or Yachtmans for 2 dining credits or Captains Grille for 1 credit.
