After reading some posts, this restaurant seems interesting. Are there specific times for the belly dancing show? I checked out the menus and was wondering if they have any "traditional" kids items. My DS5 is an adventerous eater, but DS11 is very picky.

We ate there last year and it was soooo good! I don't know if there is a set schedule for the belly dancing show; I think one occurs every half hour or so. You might ask if you make a PS. As for the children's menu, my daughter still has hers from last year so I was able to pull it out for you. They offer: grilled chicken breast with fries, beef shish kebab with fries, hamburger with fries, and vegatable couscous. All the meals include drink. So, your 11 yr. old can have a burger, and the 5 yr. old can try something like couscous!!!! It's a really fun place and I highly recommend it!

I want to say there is a set schedule and that the performances when I was there last-- here's what I found on Steve Soares entertainment site:

Restaurant Marrakesh
Traditional Moroccan music and dance inside Restaurant Marrakesh.
Daily at 12:50, 1:50, 2:50, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 & 8:10pm
Belly Dancer begins 10 minutes after show begins.
Length of show: 25 minutes

This is for this week, but I'm guessing this is pretty standard. You will have a fantastic time... great food and a grea time.

I hope this helps!

Careful of the belly dancer...she picks an unsuspecting dinner guest to come up and dance with her!
She came to our table and picked me to go up with her...unfortunately for DH (so he claims) he missed my dance as DS decided a few minuets before that he had to go potty. He didn't miss much..I'm not much of a belly dancer.

As for the kids, mine do not like to eat anything unfamiliar. However they loved the food at Marakesh! We wanted them to try it and told them if they didn't like it they could get something from the kids menu. They just shared our food. portions are generous. They ate every bite of the exotic fare and have asked to back on our next trip!

Have fun!

I like to try different foods whenever possible. So trying Marrakesh, was high up on my list to do. My daughter (12 years old....going on 42) humors me, and allows me to introduce other cultures, and food experiences...sometimes begrudgingly.

But, when she had our appetizer Chicken Bastilla she was hooked! It's baked layers of thin pastry stuffed with minced chicken and almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar...uuummmeee!! :teeth: Ok, that's enough of a flash back!

IT WASN'T ON OURS FOR FEB, BUT MARRAKESH HAS NOW BEEN ADDED TO OURS. THANKS FOR THE INFO

I LOVE Marakesh and it's a must-do for us.

For those with picky kids, you should know that nearly every Disney restaurant has the typical kids items in the kitchen, even if they don't appear on the kids menu. At Disney that typically means you can get hamburgers, chicken strips, french fries, and macaroni and cheese at nearly any restaurant (although I wouldn't ask at V&A!!) If you want to go somewhere different, just ask your waiter if they have chicken strips or whatever you child will eat...it's almost always a "yes!"

FYI...when we were at Marakesh in December, the usual suspects were the only things on the kids' menu! No kebabs! My niece (5)and nephew (7) had just returned from 3 years living in England where kebabs are standard take-out fare so they wanted them!! Marakesh gladly made up small portions for them and only charged kid's meal prices :) So helpful!!

I don't know if my SO will go for it. Where can I view a menu?

airhead...a few years ago we went to WDW with my father-in-law, who is definitely not an adventurous eater. It ended up being his favorite meal of the week. He ordered the beef kabobs, and the meat was absolutely delicious. Maybe that'll help convinve your SO! :)

We returned to this restaurant last summer with my children, and they devoured their kabob meals. My daughter was chosen to attempt belly-dancing...too funny watching a 6 yr. old trying to wiggle her hips like the belly-dancer!
