Where should we eat for DDs 1st birthday? I need park and nonpark suggestions. We will probably be in the MK that day. I made ressies for Cindys, but ouch that is $$$ and I don't know if it will be worth it. I was also thinking Ohanas, that is a family fav, but maybe too low key?? I think Chef Mickey's might be too intense, but we have never been....I need suggestions!

Are you on the meal plan?

You can have diner at 1900 Fare in GF and eat with Cinderella & Prince Charming and it's only one sit down on the meal plan.

We did Chef Mickey's for DS's first birthday. We had taken him at about 10 months and he really loved it then so we decided that was the place for his 1st birthday breakfast (well, we made it brunch with an 11:00 reservation)...DS loved watching all of the characters and kids and they brought out a little cupcake and placemat for him. We did do a birthday dinner at our 1BR at BWV as well - because we thought CM would be too intense for my grandfather (who came up from Naples to celebrate with us). We did do Ohana the next night with him and we all had a great time...still a lot of fun, but definitely lower key than CM.

Good luck with your decision!

I second crystal palace. Perfect for a 1 yr old with all the pooh characters.
A lovely light and airy restaurant in the heart of MK.:)

We did Crystal Palace breakfast for my dd's 1st b-day last month and it was great! We informed them ahead of time of the b-day and they had the table decorated and after breakfast they sang Happy b-day to her and gave her a card and cupcake..it was cute. She loved watching the characters do the parade around the restaurant (as did my 5 and 4 yo dd's..lol) ans LOVED Pooh and the gang.

DS turned 2 on our trip last year and we did Crystal Palace for breakfast and Chef Mickey's for dinner. Both were great and the kids loved both places. CM is louder and has more activity, but it was perfect for us! Have a great trip!

I second this one. We celebrated DD's 2nd birthday here and it was fabulous. I think this is what caused the princess love affair that she still carries with her today. Dinner is great here because the food selection is very good (and so is the flavor) for both adults and children, there is a nice mixture of face and costumed characters (just in case your DD ends up with an aversion of the costumed characters), its right on the monorail so if you're in MK or EPCOT it's easy to get to without a major disruption, and they treat the birthday child really special.

I'm sure wherever you go it will be great but this worked fabulous for us.

Another vote for the Pooh characters and Crystal Palace!

thanks for all the suggestions. crystal palace is out, we have done it sooo many times and we are done for a while. 1900 park fare sounds interesting, we have never been, but I am not sure I want to do a buffet.....We are looking for dinner, not breakfast. DH will be at a conference for half a day so we can't do dinner

Whatever you decide, make sure to tell your hotel at check-in that its her birthday. My neice went on her 7th birthday in Nov, and the hotel left a HUGE bundle of balloons one day, and a present the next. (A box with all the princess Barbies!) It really made her trip. There was also a B-day card signed by Mickey.

Since you don't want to do Crystal Palace I would do Chef Mickey's! My kids love it there! DS was at CM's just a few months after he turned one and loved it!!!! But he has always loved the characters even at 5 months old. I think CM's would be a very fun place to celebrate a birthday!!!
