I'm planning the 7 dinners for the 7 nights we have at WDW for May. It's my 3 y/o niece's 1st trip, so we are staying on property for the convenience.

I'm narrowed it down to 8 likely places:

Tutto Italia
Bistro de Paris
Citrico's
California Grill
Shula's
Il Mulino
Blue Zoo
Wolfgang Puck's Dining Room

How are the dress codes for these places? With the exception of Tutto Italis, I know the other have some form of code...

We'll likely go back to the room and freshen up before we go eat, etc. But, are khaki shorts and polo shirts with sneakers/sandals acceptable?

Odd are we'll probably wear jeans, khaki pants or slacks...but, we also may want to come straight from a park depending on time. I just dont want to feel rushed to have to go back and change if I can wear something acceptable to the park and dinner some nights.

Thanks!

As far as I know, your planned attire is fine. They just don't want to see pool shoes, bikini straps, and the like. I'm sure someone else will come along with the exact dress code, but what you're planning to wear should be fine. Have fun! :thumbsup2

Prohibited are swimwear, swimwear cover-ups, torn clothing, tanktops and hats on men, t-shirts with offensive pictures or words.
Everything else goes.
As you say Tutto has no code and for the most part, you will see most folks in those other places dressed pretty much as you propose. Shorts and sneakers are fine.
Here is the dress code for the California Grill and all the other spots on your list:

Notice it says GUIDELINES. And don't even be infuenced by that photo. I can count on one hand the # of times I've seen a man in a jacket (or a lady in a dress for that matter) at a WDW restaurant.

So, we should be alright if we have khaki short, polo or button down shirts and sneakers?

I've been in the past and I have nothing against dressing up. I just dont want to be incredibly underdressed at some of these places! Most nights we'll probably change into something like slacks or jeans, but I have a feeling there will be some nights where shorts will be the attire.

But, this is the 1st trip for my 3 y/o niece and the dynamics of the vacation change in many ways when you add a child to the equation haha

I'll be wanting her to see things and I thought we could save some time on occasion if we're dressed to go to dinner in the park near one of our restaurants.

Thanks! I thought we would...

But, I know we are going to mostly signature restaurants or places off of the DDP...

I just dont want to be too underdressed!

The only one from that list I can personally speak to is California Grill. I saw maybe one lady and one man dressed up, that was it. The rest were in nice slacks, nice shorts, or nice jeans, basic looking shirts and blouses. I personally wore capris and a regular blouse I wear to the parks. On the shoes front, I wore my regular (nice) walking sandals, and plenty of people had on sneakers. You've got nothing to worry about. :thumbsup2

Park attire is fine,we ate in all of the Signature Restaurants last year & for the first few we got "dressed-up" but once you see that everyone else is just coming in in their park dress you begin to think why bother!
SD:thumbsup2

Thanks for this post!! We plan on going to some signature restaurants this September and was wondering what the dress code was! So glad you don't have to get dressed up!:) :)

It sounds like you will be fine. What I did for our dinner at Narcoosee's last year was to wear a nice pair of cotton capris and a tank to the MK. I rented a locker and put a nice top (again a cotton tee like material with a nice pattern) in it. On our way to dinner I just slipped the top on over my tank.

I have never seen anyone turned away from any WDW restaurant, including the signatures (which is where we usually eat...Citricos, Jiko, Artist Point and the like), and I've seen some real...er, interesting...attire. The only place they'd turn you away without the proper clothes is at Victoria and Albert's, but then again they ban kids under age 10 too. Otherwise, in my experience it's "Any Clothes Goes," no matter what the code says.

I'm just used to dressing up when we go out... I mean if we were going off-site to a nice restaurant we would dress up, etc.

I was planning on wearing clothes that fit within the dress code, but I just didnt want to be the only one in sneakers!

I saw someone turned away from FF becasue she had ripped jeans. The kind that were supposed to be ripped.
I have seen men asked to remove their hats.

Is FF owned by Disney? I know some other things on Boardwalk, like Jellyrolls, are not, so they can probably use their own policies.

I saw someone at Citricos with ripped jeans (the kind that are NOT supposed to be ripped), and nothing was said. Have seen a lot more too but that one pops to mind because it was late last year.

I'm with innkognito here. I've never seen anyone turned away, we always eat several signatures and I've seen it all except the hat. The wife reminded him to take it off.

dress casual is what disney suggests for these restaurants

so i would say a nice pair of jeans or pants (i've never seen shorts in one of these places but you probably could wear them, just not really short ones) and a nice top. Proably not a t-shirt for ladies, for men a t-shirt might even be pushing it

i dont think the flip-flops really matter. i've been to california grill in flip-flops and I didn't get turned away. I honestly dont think you'll get turned away o matter waht your wearing but for other dinners try to dress nicely. I know that I hate being in a nice restaurant dresses up and seeing people come in looking like they just came from a park (since you normally wouldnt wear "nice" clothes to a park)

I agree. I dont like seeing people dressed down in nicer restaurants...but, this is WDW...so, it's not exactly like you're in NYC or something...

If I was going outside of WDW to a nice place I would just dress up for sure.

I'm sure we'll return to the room, shower, change and head out to eat. But, with my niece coming for her 1st trip I'm not sure how the timing will work out.

So, if I'm wearing khaki shorts, polo or button down shirt and sneakers would I be out of place at some nice places on WDW property?

I'm not sure yet. I'm not really planning it that much haha

I'm just trying to pick the better restaurants and I'll figure it out when we go.

I'm sure we'll get about 5 apps and try it all though! Food is always a big part of our vacation! We like to try everything!

You'll be just fine, whacha gonna eat?
