I see that bluezoo, Il Mulino, Kimono's and Shula's have $25 certificates for sale for $10. Restaurants.com often offers bigger certificates at some restuarants (like $100 certificates for $40). Does anyone know if the Swan/Dolphin restaurants ever see that type of discount, or is it alway $25 for $10?

They almost always have a code that can be applied for 70-80% off the gift certificate cost. I would never pay full price through restaurant.com. Most any search engine can link you to the current code. I had an email from them earlier today, but already deleted it.

We have never used one at S/D, but have used them at House of Blues before. Pay attention to the minimum order and gratuity included. Some are better deals than others. You can only use 1 per restaurant per month. I think my HOB was for $50 (I paid $4) and we had to order $100 - gratuity was automatic.

We use them for local places often as well. Just don't pay full price - I can't remember a time in the last year that they didn't have a discount code.

Thanks. I'll keep a lookout.

Edit to add: BAM!! Just got a $100 Gift Card for $12. Basically, Free Dining, but at a much better restaurant than Disney offers.

registered with them in september anticipating our halloween trip. i got a 25$ certificate for bluezoo for 2$ using a code they emailed me. this was well worth it and we had an outstanding meal there :goodvibes

Hardly free. That certificate probably requires a $200 spend to use it.

Not at all. The gift cards are dollar for dollar. If the bill comes to $101, you give them the card and a buck (plus tax and tip) and you are done. Besides, we always spend more than $200 at bluezoo after wine is factored in. So essentially, the gift card will offset the price of a $100 bottle of wine, which we would have ordered anyway.

We have used Resturant.com many times over and it really is the best deal. As a PP said you have to pay attention to the minimum amount needed to spend, days that it can be used, etc. However most of the "rules" are not that restrictive and can easily be worked into your plans, or at least that is the case we have found. Also agree that you should never pay full price there is always a coupon code for the site. We have never been disappointed and will continue to use certificates from this site. :thumbsup2

How/Where do you find a coupon code? Is this something the site sends you when you register or something I can find by searching online?

Do an internet search for "70% restaurant.com discount" and you will find what you seek.

True, but there is a minimum amount you must order for each type of certificate. I have a $25 certificate that requires the purchase of 2 entrees, but I have another $25 certificate that requires a minumum purchase of $35. Not quite free, but close to it. I think that's what the PP was referring to.

But remember. There is a difference between the certificates and the Gift Cards.

Correct. However the difference is that the gift cards have to be converted to a restaurant specific gift certificate before it can be used. You can't walk in to a restaurant and use a restaurant.com gift card. You have to convert the gift card online to a restaurant specific certificate first. That certificate will then have the limitations. Remember, there is no free lunch (pun intended).

The restaurant.com gift card is a gift card that can only be redeemed on Restaurant.com. These are really the same as the generic restaurant.com certificates. Their purpose however is so you can send them to someone in the mail. Though their function is no different.

Also note, that sometimes alcohol can't be included in the spend minimum. That is up to each restaurant. So while you plan to spend $200 anyway, if that $200 include alcohol, you may need to spend even more on food to get up to the spend minimum.

I really doubt that there is no minimum purchase of any kind required. That would be silly of them, wouldn't it? (even the $25 certificate states "Minimum 2 entrees".)

Or maybe it was a mistake; you can be sure they will not do that again.

Thanks for your replies. This is indeed disappointing. Maybe too many people got wind of this good deal. I'm not going till June, though, so I will keep checking.

you can get the codes for restaurant.com on retailmenot.com & enter restaurant.com in the search box.

if you are an aarp member, you don't have to wait for a discount code. go to http://discounts.aarp.org/offer/res...d-by-restaurant-com/deal/129736/uSource/MTPLO
& you can always pay the discounted price; $2 for $25 cert.; $4 for $50, etc. the website above only refers to the $2 for $25, but when you enter the zip code you want, it will take you to restaurant.com with the special AARP rates (don't see them until you place order in cart).

The AARP website above also states only good for certain dates, however, I've never seen it ended; the dates are always extended.

Also, AARP members get 10% off Landry restaurants.
