restaurant closures from January 5th

Hi everyone, very new girl here. taking what i have gleaned from these boards, i rang DLP today to pay the balance of our holiday (DLH, Jan 4 - 7) and to make restaurant bookings.

What I learned was that *all* of the bookable restaurants at DL are closed from January 5 through to at least the end of that week (lots of them are closed until Jan 16), with the exception of Silver Spur and Auberge something or other (the princesses and princes place).

Which threw all of our plans into disarray. However, all was not lost because it turns out that Walt's is open until 6pm on Sunday 4th so I made a 5pm booking for an early dinner (we don't arrive until midday on the Sunday and the only lunch time ressies were too early). We have a booking for Silver Spur for Monday and will leave Tues/Wed to fate.

I just thought I would mention it because it seems like a few people from here are going to be at the parks at that time and if you are like us and were really looking forward to going to Walts, then that Sunday is the only option and getting in early is probably a good idea.

I'm wondering what time you were looking to book restaurants?
As none of the restaurants in the parks would be open in the evenings anyway, when the parks close at 7pm. But I would expect almost all of them to be open for lunch, although it is true that in low season not all restaurants are open every day.

There are also many bookable restaurants in the resort hotels, and the Village, which are all open in the evenings.

I think your CM on the phone may have given you misleading information

Yes, Walts is closed Tuesday & Wednesday in December. I tried to book the other day.

When we went in October there was a ridiculous situation where places like Fuente del Oro were closed, they were posters outside telling you to go to one of 3 other restaurants nearby, but 2 out of 3 were also closed. They also had posters outside telling you to go to the other closed restaurants.

Just been on the phone and managed to book Walts on our 1st day (the 5th) but have to be there for 3.30pm. Don't mind as it'll be a late lunch/ early dinner. I've always wanted to eat there. Still amazed how the CM swopped from French to English so easily - must have been my french accent!!

Glad to hear Auberge will be open. I'm going to be booking my meals for January when I'm there on Friday. Will save money on a phone call.

We found this out on day too... it was rather annoying considering we were tired and hungry.

Exact same to us, in July!!! It was SUPER busy!

Fuente del Oro sent us to Hakuna Matata, which sent us to Colonels hathis which was shut too!!!

I have never ever ever ever ever seen that open before - even in high season.

lol, I dont think I've ever heard of it...? guessing its frontierland? except for lucky nugget I cant think of eathing places there except fuente del oro...which i think is the one you look at from the btm queue?

Yes, it's in Frontierland, in between The Lucky Nugget and the Silver Spur - all part of the same building.

Silver Spur is closed the week we are there for refurbishment - it sounds like they must be taking it in turns to some refurbishments to the restaurants.

I've never seen that open before either. This summer was the first time we've ever found Hakuna Matata open and that was only in the evenings.

wow- what is up with this? I wanted the 5th but the agent specifically told me that Walts was closed 5th through 16th January. How super annoying!! She also said that all the others (except the princesses place and silver spur) were shut 5th through 10th/16th for renovations/to remove christmas overlay and for other reasons. maybe i should ring back and hope for another agent.

Oops just realised I made a mistake should have been the 4th not the 5th - please excuse me I've been havin a couple of blonde days!!
