I'm going to WDW this Christmas and have heard how nice it is to see the decor at the Disney Resorts. I'm staying off-site and I really want to see the GF and WL decor but I'm kind of confused on how exactly to get there. These are my questions:

  • Do I need to park at the TTC and pay?
  • What if I already pay parking at one of the parks earlier that day, do I need to pay again at TTC?
  • What about that 3-hour parking pass everyone talks about?
  • Also, how do I get to both the GF and WL from the TTC? Is it better to take a ferry boat than a monorail?
  • Does the monorail go to WL from TTC?
  • Does WDW transportation cost anything for off-site guests?

Please help me! WDW transportation really confuses me! :confused3

For brief visits to individual resorts, just drive to the specific property. No cost, but be alert that self-parking at Grand Floridian is a small hike.
If you were at a park earlier the same day, your parking fee/pass covers you all day; just keep it on your dashboard.
You likely won't use up three hours even if you get a limited-time parking pass.
Monorail to the GF, but there's no way to get between WL and the TTC. Start at MK and take the bus or launch, or start from Contemporary and use the launch..

If you're going during Christmas week (looks like you are from your ticker), CR, Poly, & GF parking will probably be restricted to guests at those resorts and guests with dining reservations -- the guard will be checking names. So you'll be parking at the MK parking lot (which is the TTC), and taking the monorail to those resorts. Parking at any park (including TTC) is only charged once per day.

To get to WL, take the monorail or ferry to MK, and then the boat or bus to WL. You can also board a boat at CR for WL.

The following boats are available during MK hours:

  • TTC - MK (ferry)
  • MK - GF - Poly
  • MK - WL
  • MK - Ft. Wilderness
  • CR - WL - Ft. Wilderness
In case you hadn't noticed, the monorails are now scheduled to close 1 hour after MK closes.

All WDW-operated buses, boats, and monorails are free of charge to all.

Disney transportation is free to any guests at Disney, meaning if you're doing anything at Disney(visiting the parks, eating or just visiting resorts,etc..) you can use their buses, boats and monorails to get around.

If you already paid parking for the day you can park hop to any other park by just showing your parking receipt to not have to pay again.

The TTC is essentially the parking lot for the MK,from there you can get a monorail or ferry to MK,get a monorail to Epcot, the resort monorail line will take you to the Contemporary,Polynesian, and Grand Floridian resorts, the Polynesian is actually right next to the TTC so you could walk to it from the TTC if you wanted.

To get to the resorts around MK I suggest the monorail except for the WL which will require a boat ride from the MK.

You could just drive up to the hotels if you want and say you want to visit the hotels, the guard may give you a 3 hour pass or may just let you through. One thing you could do is drive to the WL then get on the boat to MK to get the resort monorail and see the other resorts.

Aside from the MK resorts the other popular resorts at Christmas are the Epcot resorts,Yacht and Beach Club and the Boardwalk. You can access these by visiting the Boardwalk,or by exiting Epcot by the International Gateway and walk or take a boat to them. These boats also lead to DHS so these resorts can also be reached from DHS.The Swan and Dolphin and also there and are very nice hotels.

Depends on which resorts you want to check out.
If you just want to check out the MK resorts, I would pay to valet park at the CR. Then, boat over to WL, check it out, boat back to CR...monorail to the GF, check it out, then back onto the monorail. I would then get off at MK and head to the bus stops and hop on the BW bus...go to BW, check it out, and then walk around the lake...checking out the S/D and then YC/BC. Onto the bus at BC, and head to AK....then get on the bus to AKL and check it out, then back to MK on the bus and walk or monorail over to CR to get your car.
You can also park at the TTC...just hold onto your parking receipt from a previous parking lot that day. Or....just take a bus to the CR from whichever park you are at that day...then you can continue on with the above plan.
