I am thinking of taking a day at WDW to exclusively tour different resorts on property. I have only seen maybe 3 resorts so far and we only get to visit every 8-10 years or so. We will be there during the flower and garden festival in 2022. Should we take a day and just take the transportation to the different resorts to experience them each a little? Will this be weird for the staff seeing us there? We do plan on looking through the gift stores and eating at Beaches & Cream this day also. What do y'all think?

I did that a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. We are staying at Swan when we go next month, and I’m looking forward to exploring the Boardwalk area. Go for it!

We really like to explore the hotels. We do a monorail resort bar crawl every year and then do an EPCOT resort bar crawl.

We love to explore the resorts, bars and gift shops.

It's a great way to see WDW and take a break from the parks.

I used to do it all the time, I don't do it as much now because I've seen most of them now. I didn't take a full day, just time out from a day. What I'd do is whenever I was ready according to which park I was at, would determine my mode. If I was at MK - I'd just hop on the monorail and do all three on the monorail. I took time on one trip while at MK to hop on a boat to WL and another to the Fort.
While at Epcot, just walk out the IG and tour around those three (I count YC/BC as one and Swan/Dolphin as one). AKL on a bus from AK. Now the moderates and values are a little more challenging. What I would do is go to the bus stop and decide if I wanted to go value or moderate. Then I'd head toward the bus stops for that group and just get on the first bus to arrive. I'd tour that resort, hop on the first park bus to show, rinse and repeat. I never did more than 2 a day but it was a nice 2 or 3 hour break in the middle of the day.

I would suggest booking some dinners or breakfasts at the resorts you want to check out, or doing a tour on your arrival or departure day for a few hours. A full day seems like overkill.

Yes - it's a lot of fun, IMHO. The staff won't give it another thought. There are non-guests visiting WDW resorts all the time.

We have toured most of the resorts and we enjoyed it. We recently toured Riviera and loved all the lawn games they had at the resort. You could play Bocce ball when you are visiting.

The Staff at the resorts are very friendly to guests and random visitors. :)

Thanks for asking this! I haven’t been to all of them and definitely want to take a resort day for my trip in December, but I don’t know if my party (all adults) will want to do that. I may have to sneak away from them! I want to see the Christmas decorations!

It depends on how long your stay is. If you’re only staying a week let’s say and you haven’t been for 8-10 yrs, no, I wouldn’t waste a whole day on Resort touring. So many changes since you’ve last been.
Instead I’d make a dinner res at a resort you’re interested seeing.

I think this is a good idea!

This always sounds like a good idea to me but it was kind of meh when I've tried it. I second the idea of planning some meals at the resorts and exploring then.

No one will even notice you, lots of people visit the various resorts, plus there’s really no way to know whether you are just visiting or staying at the resort.
I tend to combine a dinner reservation at a resort near the park I’m visiting, but sometimes I’m just shopping (Basin in the GF for bath bombs, for example,) or wandering to look around. I sort of like escaping the hustle & bustle of the crowds in the parks with a break to a nearby resort.
MK - boat or monorail over to restaurants at GF, Poly, and Contemporary.
Epcot - walk out the IG to YC, BC, BW
DHS - boat over to YC, BC, BW
New mode to me: Epcot/DHS Skyliner over to Riviera. I’ve not yet gone to AOA, Pop, or CBR via Skyliner, but you could Skyliner to those resorts as well.
AK - bus to AKL Jambo or AKV Kidani
DS - boat to POR/POFQ

It depends on the length of your trip. If 10 days or longer would say yes but if not I would use your time at the 4 parks and at do at least 2 days at each if you can.
