I seem to always go back and forth on this question. Would you rather stay at Disney longer or stay less time at disney but stay in your favorite resort.

What I'm thinking is we can either have a longer vacation at SOG (12 days) or stay a shorter period of time at the Poly (5 days). I've stayed at SOG 3 times, but never at the Poly. I would love to stay at the Poly but I keep going back to SOG because it's a deluxe resort at such a great price and we can enjoy disney world for longer.

I do this every year, go back and forth up until the day I book the trip (and sometimes after), but no matter where we stay we always have a lovely vacation and it's always to short!

So on a budget, which do you choose, more days at WDW or dream accommodations?

Can you do a split stay and stay at the poly for just a few days??? If not I vote the longer stay. Although the Poly is beautiful you can always stay there next time. 12 days compared to 5 is a big difference and you can have a lot of fun in 12 days.

I would rather stay longer and eat at Kona and Ohana.

I'd rather stay longer. There's just too much to see and do and if I have a short trip, I try to cram it all in and go home completely exhausted.

We don't want to do a spilt stay, but we will absolutely visit and eat at other resorts to get some of that experience. I'm leaning much more towards staying longer, but if I could get a code/good rate at the Poly I might be willing to lean that way instead.

I love the Poly and have stayed there twice. We hardly spend any time at the resorts when we go, maybe an afternoon at the pool but besides that we are in the parks not stop. That being said, I would stay a SOG for the longer period of time. I honestly would rather have more days there. You can go and visit the Poly, go eat dinner there or have breakfast or something.:thumbsup2

For me, the question is always: How much time do you really spend in your room?

Honestly, if the beds are just as comfortable, and the rooms are just as private, I'll take the less expensive option that gives me a longer vacation, every time!

I would much rather stay LONGER....when I am asleep I don't know if I am in a deluxe or a value resort......;)

I pick SOG for longer. If it was only a few days I'd say Poly, but its 7 extra days... that is almost the length of what my entire still will be!

I'd go with SOG if it makes that much difference in the amount of days you can stay.

The difference between 12 and 5 days is huge. I would do a split stay, but if that is totally out of the question, my choice would be 12 days.

Now if it was only a few days difference, I would go with the Poly.

My feelings exactly!:thumbsup2

I'm going to go against the grain on this one and say go for the Poly. Up until this past year I was usually faced with the same decision whenever traveling and always opted to stay at a budget/value resort. My dream had always been to stay at the CR though. So last year I figured it was finally time to splurge and take my dream vacation. I had to save up for a year, but it was really the best vacation I'd ever taken. Staying at the CR was everything I imagined it would have been and then some. So, if you've always wantd to stay at Poly and never have, I say go for it. It sounds like your not a WDW rookie, so would you really be broken up if you didn't see every attraction or show this time around? Go for the experience and fulfill a dream :thumbsup2

I would definately do the longer stay. 12 days vs. 5 days is a big difference and I'd feel very rushed on a 5 day trip. With 12 you can have some down time and relax...:)

I vote to stay longer at SOG.

I like to stay longer at a moderate than have a shorter stay at a deluxe.

We like to have 2 rooms and stay 15 days.

I went to WDW in early December for my first ever solo trip. I was able to stay at the Beach Club and I FELL IN LOVE with it. I love the location - (5 minute walk to Epcot!), the atmosphere - being able to walk to the boardwalk, take a boat to MGM, the AMAZING pool and lazy river, the smell of gingerbread in the Lobby... I could go on and on.

I also fell in love with Disney during Christmas! So... I immediately booked a 13 night dream vacation for my DS (8) and I to go from 12/21 to 1/3/09! Well, I had gone back and forth, priced every single category and when I finally booked, I picked our favorite mod resort - POFQ. Needless to say, I can't get Beach Club out of my head!

I've thought about changing the entire trip to Beach Club (double the price). I've thought about why we love POFQ (location to DTD, the size of the resort (not more than 10 minutes from one end to the other), the pool is one of my son's highlights. So....

I just sat down and figured out how to do it for only $600 more than the original quote. I have decided to do a split stay. When there in December, we changed from Beach Club to SSR and it was sooooo easy. Disney took care of everything and it was a great relief.

So.... long story (sorry) short... (not) I now have 10 days at POFQ and 3 nights at Beach Club. We'll be there for New Year's Eve and spend our last few days relaxing and exploring Epcot.

My advice... Play with the dates - make it work for you and NOT cut your time... I picked the last three nights due to the rates are cheaper the last 2!

Good luck with whatever you decide! :thumbsup2

Seems to me SOG is been there done that, but the Poly is your dream. I say go for the Dream. Perhaps play with the dates to maybe get 10 days within your budget range. Perhaps book a lower end room at the Poly to still get to stay there, but keep cost down.

We stayed at CBR last year and loved both WL and AKL when we visited. My mother made the decision that we woud upgrade to deluxe and I decided AKL suited us best. This trip will be a bit shorter than the last, but we are so excited to stay at AKL.
