It has been many years since we have had a car while staying on resort and the only reason we did was because we stayed at Fort Wilderness with our own travel trailer. Back then they gave us a paper parking pass which allowed us to drive to the parks and not pay. We are driving this fall for multiple reasons, and I have heard paper parking passes are no longer. So my question is how does parking work now when you pull into a theme park parking lot and/or a resort for a reservation? Depending on the answer to the first question, this may be mute, but with online check in do we have to actually go to our resort and check in to get the parking pass?

They scan your magic band. If you are staying at a Disney resort, they will see that. We are DVC/AP so that allows us to park for free.

If you do online check in, you will receive a text/notification/email when your room is ready. It will include your room number. No need to go to the front desk. Be sure to have the MDE app on your phone.

Thank you! Just so I understand completely, we can go park at say EPCOT before we even go to our resort on the day we arrive?

Yes, if you do online check-in (no need to check-in or anything), you are a guest the full day you arrive, and the full day you check out. You can park for free at the theme parks, and if you want, you can use the pool at the resort while you wait for the room. We've done one or the other every time we've visited without any problems. We've dropped our luggage with Bell Services before going to the parks, we didn't want everything sitting in the car with the extreme heat of summer.

AP allows you to park at the theme parks for free whether you are staying on site or not. DVC only allows you to park for free at the theme parks if you are staying at a Disney resort, just like all the other guests staying at a Disney resort.
