We have a 5:45pm reservation at Ohana and are thinking about driving our car to the Poly from AKL. After dinner, we plan to go to MK for the night. Will we be able to leave our car in the Poly parking lot while at MK or do we have to go park somewhere else after dinner? Is there a time limit on dinner parking at the resorts?

If you pay for Valet you can leave it and go to MK. With just an ADR, they like to keep it to 3 hours. You could always park at the TTC and walk over to the Poly.

The monorail resort parking lots just don't have the capacity for the number of people who want to do just what you're describing. Resort parking is for those staying at the resort or dining/shopping/visiting. You'll be expected to move your car after dinner, unless you pay for valet parking.

It's a short, pleasant walk from the TTC to the Poly, so you might be better off just parking at the TTC (free, since you're a Disney Resort guest), and walking to Poly, then taking the monorail or boat to MK after dinner. That way you won't have to move the car.

Alternatively, you could take the bus from AKL to MK, then take the monorail or boat to Poly for dinner, and not bother with the car at all.

Depends on who you ask.

You are a resort guest (even though its a different one). I'd just drive over to Poly for dinner and stay there. Standard self-parking is free and available to resort guests. It doesn't say you have to be a guest of THAT resort.

IMO - what Disney is trying to discourage is off-site guests from parking at resorts for the day without paying a parking fee at all. As a resort guest - resort parking is open to you for free.

Parking is for registered guests of that resort.

Parking is available at the resort you are registered at, not at any resort on property.
OP, At the Poly you can park to eat, but should move it after dinner.
The Resort parking lots near the theme parks are neither designed for nor large enough to accommodate paying resort guests and theme park goers as well.

Parking at the resorts is not meant for Theme Park access.

You will need to move your car or pay to Valet. Those are the rules.

There are signs at the resort parking lots that do say that the parking lots are for guests of that particular resort. There's no special permission conferred on resort guests to park indefinitely in another resort's lot.

The resorts are open to the public, and self-parking is free for anyone, but the guard at the gatehouse does control access. Depending on the resort, and the time of year, that may mean no more than a check of photo ID. At the monorail and Epcot resorts, it sometimes means that you'll only get into the lot if you have an ADR. At super-busy times, you may not get into the lot at all if you're not a registered guest of the resort.

Part of the reason for this is to prevent day guests from escaping the parking fee, yet. But the more important reason is to protect parking access for guests of that resort. When people are paying hundreds of dollars a night to stay at a monorail resort, they get fairly cranky if they come back after a long day and can't find a parking place because the lot is crammed with cars of guests who didn't want to move their car after dinner.

I think they issue resort specific parking tags for resort when you check in... dinner parking is free if an ADR normally max 3 hrs. I have seen parking lots patrolled and cars towed during busy times. its upsetting for guests staying there not to be able to find parking.

Like everyone said TTC is best then anyway you return to vehicle from MK your car is available the same. take a tram to monorail and ride it to dinner if you are way out in lots..

Actually, it means just that. You need to be a guest of that specific resort to park there and leave your car for more than 3 hours. The lots are only big enough for the guests of that resort, plus a few visitors. They are not built to handle every car from every guest staying on site.

Actually it is for that resorts paying guests, they scan your magic band and can tell if you are staying there or not. If you do this it's your choice however don't provide suggestions to go against the rules, it's not fair to that person.

It's actually a nice walk from the TTC to Poly. It's about 5 mins to get to Ohana from the TTC.

We had a resort parking pass in our windshield for BW when we parked at Contemporary for CG. When we pulled in to the resort the attendant at the gate did check that we were current guests at BW and confirmed our dinner reservation then he directed us where to park.

You were allowed to park because you had dinner reservations, not because you were a guest at BW.

I stayed at Boardwalk last October and we went to Trader Sams one night, it was a weeknight. I was worried they would hassle us but we were waived in no question. I do think if they see another resort parking pass they know you are not scamming for free parking.

And yet one October at Boardwalk they were turning away anyone wanting to park unless they were staying at the resort itself. Even those with ADRs had to park elsewhere. Not even Valet was available that evening.

It actually does say you have to be a guest of THAT resort.
