Resort parking permit?

First time having a car and staying on property. \If we do online check in, do we need to go to front desk anyway to let them know we have car? Will we get a placard/paper permit to display on car? The morning we arrive in Orlando we want to go straight to a park before going to resort as most likely room would not be ready. Do we either have to double pay parking that day/night,or make a trip to resort before park opening just to get a permit to show at park that we are resort guest?

Of you are staying on property, if you reside in the US you will receive magic bands approximately 3-4 weeks before arrival. (Be sure you order your colors). You will just stop at theme park parking booth and they will scan your magic band. When you arrive at hotel, you will give your name at security gate and again they\you will use your magic band. Disney will know they this that you have a car!!!

There are no parking tags or credentials at WDW resorts. At the resort gate you will have to scan your magic band. The gate will either automatically open, or a CM will open it for you. You can then park anywhere you want as long as the space isn't marked reserved. You will get charged every night you park the car on property.

You need to use your magic band to open your hotel room before it will open the gate at your hotel. First time at hotel, you need to show your ID to the guard. Since you are going to the parks first, I would print out your room reservation email and show them that you’re onsite. They will probably scan your magic band.

We will be returning the rental car immediately after check-in and luggage drop-off at our room. Will we have to pay for parking for the amount of time this requires?

You are only supposed to pay if you park overnight at the resort. Make sure you let the front desk know you will not have a vehicle overnight and check your room account to ensure they don't charge you.
