Resort Mugs????

Hi,
If I have the Disney mugs, can I take them
back to my resort when I goon another trip to Disney and use them? Thanks!!

There has been MUCH discussion on this subject. The official answer from Disney is NO.

On the many internet discussion boards that revolve around WDW, there are many discussions concerning the reusable mug program at the resorts.

Does WDW have an official policy for the use of these mugs?

The main questions are usually:

1.) Can I use the mug purchased at ABC resort at XYZ resort.
A.) If I visit it?
B.) If I split my stay and move there for the second half?

2.) Can I bring the mug from ABC resort back with me on Subsequent trips to the ABC resort forever?

Thanks for a reply as to the official WDW policy on this.

Please know that the "Souvenir Mug" program at Disney Resorts allow you to refill beverages (including hot coffee & tea) at your Resort for the length of your current stay and is for your resort only. It is not extended to refills at other Disney Resorts or Theme Parks or future visits.

That policy stinks. I might be staying at the WL and I had planned on bringing my refillable mug from last year!

I am really confused because I have read many posts where they said you could use the mugs over again. We are going again to PO-FQ and I planned on taking them along. thanks,,corvair

When did you recieve this "letter" from Disney?We have used our mugs from previous trips at the sister resorts on later visits with much encouragement from the CM's there.

When we purchased the mugs we asked if they could be used later and were told "yes".When we arrived on a later visit and asked to be sure,we were told "yes".

Is this a new policy?

Like most things at Disney, you can ask 3 CMs the same question and get 3 different answers.


When I return to Disney this Christmas, I'll be taking our mugs that I got at All Star Sports last August.

Its part of the vacation for us. You gotta buy them. We usually always stay at a different resort, so we get new mugs. Unless we stay at the same resort, we always get new mugs.

They pay for themselves buy the end of the vacation

I'm with PoohBear. I'm taking mine. If we are asked not to use them -- no problem, I'll buy new ones. But, it's worth packing them just in case...

When we went last November, I was buying my mugs and remarked how the handle changed from last year at the WL. The cast member told me that I should have just brough my old ones back. I am now the proud owner of 7 Wilderness Lodge Refillable Mugs.

From what I understand on the mug issue, a mug purchased at XYZ resort can be used endlessly at that resort. I have in fact taken DL mugs to POR and had it be fine - in fact the CM's were tickled that I had the older mug and happy to see a return visitor.

Now, here is where the real discussion begins - using XYZ mug at ABC resort. PC or not, I have used that same DL mug at two other resorts with no problems. I figure I spend a whole bunch of money there while I visit, and I visit often. AND - I don't abuse it - really, I drink mostly water anyway.

I have also taken a rubbermaid sippy and filled it with ice water from the vending before heading to the parks. Never any problems.

I used my old (one year) Port Orleans mug last week at CBR - my daughter used her old CBR one (five years). Absolutely no said a thing, looked askance, nothing. I saw people using mugs from other resorts, etc. No one cares.

Yes I did have that e-mail conversation, but I have to agree with Disneyjunkie - ask 3 CMs - get 3 different answers.

CM told me when I purchased at WL that I may use them for subsequent trips. I didn't ask, she offered. We have been to wl 4 times and always bring them. They have to know that people are doing this, if they had a problem with it, they would discontinue the program. From a WDW point of view a cup of soda probably costs them less then a penny, it probably would cost them more to dispose of the 10,000 extra soda cups a day. I wouldn't bring a cup from ABC to XYZ resort though.

We used our Poly mugs at ASMu in Feb. I didn't even think about not being able to. We never gave it a thought. Several CM's saw us with them and never said a thing. We plan on leaving the mugs at home this time since the kids will be coming with us on this trip and they make nice Souvineers as well as being a money saver.
