IS it true, that all resorts/dvc properties now use the same mug? Last year,we noticed each resort had different mugs, but some in our family will be splitting a stay, and this is good info to know...... We like to buy them, but it would be nice to know where they can be used.......

Yes it's true that all the Resorts are selling the same mugs which is a design for the Year Of A Million Dreams and they can be used at any of the Resort counter service locations. The only Resorts not selling them is Coronado Springs because they are still selling their own Resort mug and the Contemporary because the Food & Fun Center is closed and the temporary cs location is not selling any mugs.

Wait a minute....are you saying that there are NO refillable mugs at the Contemporary in the 90 degree heat? I'm a little put off by this, does anyone know why besides they're moving the F&FC, I mean they must have drinks there right? Thanks!

The temporary cs location is selling drinks in bottles, the same way the Polynesian did when Captin Cook's was closed for renovations.

The reason the Food & Fun Center closed is they are turning that location into a new table service restaurant called the Waive and the Concourse Steakhouse will become the new counter service location and rumours say they will be called Chef Mickey's Express.

???? what? :confused3

Questions about resort mugs tend to spurn debate and controversy. Usually, because it can be viewed as someone trying to cheat the system i.e. "Can I use my Dixie Landings resort mug from 1991 when I stay at Pop next month"

As far as I'm concerned you are just asking if all the resorts are now selling the same mugs (yes they are) as opposed to each have a different mug themed to that resort. And if some has a split stay can they use the same mug at both resorts (I believe yes). Someone correct me if Iam wrong, but the mugs are good for your length of stay, so if my trip is 10 days and I stay at 3 different resorts my mug is good at all 3, but on my next trip 2 years from now I need to by a new mug.

ok,that's what I was asking, thanks! I have a mug from last year, and it has a date on it....but when I bought it,it was resort specific,so this new option is cool for the hoppers of resorts among us! Yes, we WILL buy a new mug!;)

Oh darn! I wanted a new mug, I heard about the new ones and was all excited, plus sitting by the pool in that heat you're going to want to drink a lot of liquids and those refillable mugs come in quite handy, not to mention coffee in the am...Well thanks for the info!

Can the mugs be used in the theme parks? I heard you can use them there too, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

This is consistent with the conventional wisdom on the DIS as well as what is now posted by Disney about the mug program.

Years ago I saw a guy yelling at a CM because he thought he could get free refills in the 4 theme parks. It has never been part of the resort refillable mug program as far as I know.

However, while I've never been to one of the water parks I have read that they sell refillable mugs there. But that is different than the resort program (resort mugs do not get free refills at the water parks and the water park mugs are not refillable at the resorts).

LoriZH ~ It's been a while since i've stayed at the CR, but we used to be able to get mug refills at the food place near the pool. If they still do this I'd ask about getting a mug to use there. Of course if you don't plan on spending alot of time at the pool you'd have no use for the mug.

That's what they did when the Food & Fun Center was closed for a minor renovation in January 2000. However there is no guarantee they are doing that again and someone would have to report if this is happening.

Someone just outbid me for 3 All-Star Resorts refillable mugs on eBay (the old style). The seller was ENCOURAGING their re-use and falsely stated it would be no problem to do so. I e-mailed the winner and gave him/her a heads up regarding the new mugs and how it might be noticed and perhaps prohibited (depending on the CM's attitude) if those mugs were to be used on an upcoming trip to WDW. I didn't do this to be the Refillable Mug Police, but in order to spare the (perhaps unsuspecting) winner from a lot of embarrassment. I know I would be MORTIFIED to do something like that, without knowing the rules, and get caught.:scared1:
