Resort lines for buses?

So someone who is older or carrying a child *needs* a seat? I reject that assumption. I'm now older than some and i don't need a seat just because of that. When I was carrying a baby I didn't *want* a seat when on a bus. Not at WDW, but I had to firmly reject such assumptions several times on buses when DS was little.

People with problems do have a choice to not get on a packed bus.

And if you do make that assumption don't get weird if the person says "no thank you". I had people who were trying to be gentleman get downright obnoxious when is said no, and to continue to stand so as to not give an appearance of sitting while someone in "need" was standing. Ah, so the motivations were selfish and all about the one offering, eh, "gentlemen"?

Trying to get a handle on this one here Nah, not going to try any longer. Resume happy times.

I agree with others that if you are sitting on a bench, you aren't in line for the bus.

If you or someone with whom you are traveling needs to sit, the best thing you can do would be to drive to the parks.

The deluxe resorts are the same way, no lines its a free for all. I don't mind so much except for when you do actually have a somewhat line going and then people decide they should push in from the sides.

When I arrive at the bus stop, I sit if there aren't many waiting. I watch the boards to see when my bus is coming. About 5 mins prior to its arrival, I get up and join those that are standing.
If I've taken a seat, then I'm nice and comfy as I wait vs those who are standing.

I'm almost 67. I've been offered a seat...I always find it interesting since I don't look close to that age. I always say thanks, but I'm fine standing. I've gotten up and given my seat to someone who obviously needed it more.

like others said, values have a line while deluxes and moderates do not.
we usually have half of us stand in line while the other sits by a bench.

i don't know if it is just me but i feel like the deluxes have empty bus stops compared to values and moderates, so when it is empty-- no etiquette needed (unless the bus is full)

We always use the satellite bus stop closest to our room at the mods, and do sit on bench while waiting. When we see our bus coming we get up and wait by the line. There's never a big queue, mostly just a few people milling about. I much prefer it to the chained cattle lineups. No one is keeping track of when each family arrived at the bus stop.

I avoid the main bus stop at the resort, that's the one I find frustrating. People line up and you don't know if the bus arriving is their bus or not. They don't get off the line if it isn't their bus, just stand there. If you're behind them you have no idea who's getting on bus. Now you have to ask everyone ahead of you if it's their bus, if not walk around them to next people standing in the queue.
I wish people would just step back if bus arriving isn't theirs. But no, they don't. So I avoid the main bus stop.

No yikes needed. Lines are orderly, some have dedicated buses. I just have never had the issue with buses I read so much about here on the DIS. Besides, we're all about the park time.

Count me among those who prefer the orderly queue system they have at the Values. First come, first served, period!

This thread is a last minute learning experience for me. We've had two Value stays and when I initially read the title I didn't understand. At our value stays it was often myself and two oldest kids in the ordered line waiting while hubby and youngest sat back on the bench. 90% of the time everyone waiting knew we were a group anyhow since kids were running back and forth between us. When bus started arriving he'd join us, we'd load, nobody had issues (well okay WE never had issues).

I sometimes choose a value resort just for the bus service.

We leave in a month for CBR and I never realized the bus system was more relaxed there. Now I know and sounds like our plan may not work the same. Am I reading correctly it is also one stop for all park busses? So we will be waiting for say AK at the same area but may have to 'hold' our line spot while the MK, HS and springs busses all come through first and rearrange as each group shuffles on? Although I am not overly concerned about crowds/waits just how things work. Lol sorry seems silly but I am used to the value organization and trying to prep myself for something different.

I'm not sure about CBR specifically, but the mods we have stayed at have a number of bus stops located throughout the resort. I'm not a fan of that because by the time the bus gets to your stop in the morning, it could already be nearly full. Then at the end of the night you have number of stops to make once you arrive. I just like the simplicity of the value bus systems. When the bus arrives in the morning, it's empty. When you leave at night (at Pop and AoA at least) you have only one stop to make. Of course the down side is that your walk from the bus stop then can be long, but we always request a room near the buses and have been very happy with the experience.

I'm sure people have great bus experiences all the time at mods and deluxes. But every time I read complaints about buses here on the DIS, it seems to be at those resorts. I just like the orderly "one stop, one line" approach at the values.

Of course, as I pointed out already, we tend to use our resort just as a place to sleep, so tend to value that over other amenities.

OK, so, at CBR, there are multiple bus stops throughout the resort because it's a huge resort. However, all buses pick up passengers at all stops (unless the bus is full and cannot take any more passengers). So, you'll go to the bus stop closest to your room, regardless of where you're heading. All of the park buses and Disney Springs bus will stop at your bus stop. Also, unless you're the first (or possibly second) stop, be prepared to stand on the bus.

You will see where the bus typically stops to pick up guests, and I think there may be like a foot long line on the cement telling guests not to step over. But sometimes buses will stack up behind each other, and a bus may pick up when it is second in line.

I can only speak for POFQ/POR-south depot, but I have experienced lines, chaos, pushing, blocked lane ways, words exchanged, and not getting on buses multiple times. So it does happen.

I'm sure it does. But I think it is not the norm, which is how it seems to be being portrayed. I stayed at POFQ over the 4th of July before, and didn't see it. I'm not doubting it can happen, but I would hate for others to think it is the normal behavior.

I don't know. It's the norm for me at mods. I've never been to a mod during a busy time.
But I also think that bus service is the best and comes most frequently over holidays.

Thanks for all of your replies. I guess I was kind of shocked to see others get on before those who were previously sitting, but you all had good points. That being said, I never had a problem getting on a bus (did have to stand once or twice, but that is ok). I just felt awkward on what the correct process was, but it seems it is ok to line up even if others are sitting. I agree with the others, too, that age isn't an indication of a disability as my husband is young and has serious knee problems (he wasn't with us).
