    Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House

    2901 Osceola Parkway
    Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
    Phone: 407-938-3000 | Fax: 407-938-4799

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village
    3701 Osceola Parkway
    Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-8445
    (407) 938-7400

Check in: 3:00pm (4:00pm for villas) - Check out: 11:00am

    Overview

There are three parts to the Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas, spread across two buildings. The original Animal Kingdom Lodge building, also known as Jambo House, is a Disney deluxe resort. Some of the rooms in the Animal Kingdom Lodge were converted to Disney Vacation Club villas, so that building also houses the Animal Kingdom Villas. A second phase of the Animal Kingdom Villas is in the newer section of the resort, Kidani Village.

Got all that? All you really need to know is that the Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas offers a unique resort experience in an unforgettable setting. The six-story lobby is one of the most impressive in all of Disney World; it overlooks the savanna, where 200 birds and animals roam. A large mud fireplace is always burning. Great spots for viewing the animals and birds of the savanna are scattered all around the resort.

Rooms at the main lodge are decorated in the colors and themes of Africa. You can see the animals right from your balcony if you book a savanna view room, but you’ll still see plenty of animals as you explore the resort, even if you have a standard or pool view room. Most rooms have two queen beds or a king bed, but rooms with two bunk beds and a queen bed are also available. Club level is available at this resort, as are a selection of suites.

DVC villas at Jambo House and Kidani Village are studios, 1-, 2- and 3 bedrooms. Villas at Jambo and Kidani are generally similar. Savanna views are available here, too. There are a small number of club level villas.

The spirit of discovery extends to dining at this resort. There are three table service restaurants, including the popular Boma, home of African-inspired breakfast and dinner buffets. There are also a number of quick service dining spots and lounges around the resort.

There are two pools at the resort, one at Jambo and one at Kidani.

    Rooms

Standard rooms at the Lodge have two queen beds, one queen bed and two bunk beds, a king bed, or a king and day bed. There is a small table and chairs, mini-fridge, and coffeemaker, and a vanity area outside the bathroom. Decor is warm and welcoming, with drapes above the headboards, and intricately carved furnishings.

Club level rooms offer access to the Kilimanjaro Club lounge, bathrobes, and turndown service. A number of suites are also available.

Studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom villas are the DVC options at Jambo and Kidani. Studios have a queen bed and sofa bed, and kitchenette with microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and sink. One and two bedroom villas have a living room with sofa bed and TV and dining area, a full kitchen, and a master suite with king bed TV and jetted tub. Most of these villas also have a sleeper chair in the living room, except for the smaller and slightly less expensive value villas at Jambo. 2 bedroom villas have either a queen bed and sofa bed or two queens in the second bedroom, a TV, and a full bath.

Villas at Kidani are slightly larger than their counterparts at Jambo, and the one, two and three bedroom villas at Kidani have 1 additional bathroom (2 baths in the one bedroom, 3 in the two bedroom).

There are a small number of club level villas in Jambo House. This are very difficult to book unless you are DVC owner at Animal Kingdom Villas, and can reserve one when booking opens at 11 months out.

    Dining

Jiko is the signature restaurant, featuring African, Indian and Mediterranean dishes. Boma’s popular Flavors of Africa buffet serves African and American specialties for breakfast and dinner. At Kidani Village, Sanaa offers African/Indian cuisine.

The resort’s main counter service restaurant is The Mara, in Jambo House. It serves African and American favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don’t forget to try the Zebra Domes!

There are pool bars at both pools - Uzima Springs Pool Bar at Jambo, and Maji Pool Bar at Kidani.

The Victoria Falls Lounge and Cape Town Lounge offer South African wines and beers, along with domestic and imported selections.

    This resort offers in-room dining.

To view menus of the restaurants and lounges, check out the DIS Restaurant Menu Database.

    Recreation

At the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas, recreation centers around the African theme and the birds and animals of the savanna. Storytelling and campfire activities take place behind the lodge, and there are many animal viewing spots around the resort.

The resort has two pools: the Uzima Springs pool at Jambo House, and the Samawati Springs pool at Kidani Village.

Pumbaa’s Fun and Games arcade is located in Jambo House.

Simba’s Clubhouse Children’s Activity Center offers childcare for kids 3-12.

The Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center features a workout facility and spa services such as massages.

A unique perk for club level and DVC guests is the opportunity to take part in the Sunrise Safari tour. This is an hour-long, guided tour of the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at Animal Kingdom park, with one of the animal trainers. The tour takes place before the park opens, and includes a breakfast buffet at Pizzafari.

    Transportation

Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas provides bus service to all four theme parks, both water parks, and Disney Springs. There is an internal shuttle that takes guests between Jambo House and Kidani Village; if you’d rather not take the shuttle, it’s about a 10 minute walk.

For more photos and information, and to make a reservation, visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Animal Kingdom Villas pages at wdwinfo.com.

The relaxed and casual feel of the Beach Club is inspired by New England seaside cottages of the late 19th century. The Disney Vacation Club's Beach Club Villas is adjacent to the Beach Club, and shares facilities with the resort. You can choose from studios, one bedroom villas and two bedroom villas.

There are a number of dining options in the resort itself, and the restaurants of the Yacht Club are a short walk away. The dining and entertainment choices at the Boardwalk and Swan and Dolphin are also within easy walking distance, and boat service is offered to those resorts, as well as Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Stormalong Bay is the most elaborate resort pool at WDW, and there are also 3 quiet pools at the Beach Club. You can also enjoy a white sand beach, and many other recreational opportunities, from boat and bike rentals to tennis and volleyball.

The lounge serves continental breakfast in the morning, light snacks in the afternoon, hors d'oeuvres in the evening, and desserts and adult beverages later in the evening.

The Beach Club also offers a number of one and two bedrooms suites; all suites come with club level access.

At the Villas, studios, one bedroom villas and two bedroom villas are available. Studios have a queen bed and sleeper sofa, plus a small table and chairs, two-sink vanity, and kitchenette with microwave, toaster, sink, mini-fridge and coffeemaker.

The Beaches & Cream Soda Shop offers a wide variety of ice cream creations, milkshake, and favorites from the grill. There’s also a pickup window for to-go items.

Pick up a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner, and fill your Rapid Fill mug at the Beach Club Marketplace.

Martha’s Vineyard is a full service bar, serving cocktails, wine, draft beer and appetizers.

Outside at Stormalong Bay, Hurricane Hannah’s Grill is a pool bar that also serves burgers, sandwiches, salads and snacks.

This resort offers 24-hour in-room dining.

There’s a waterslide in a shipwreck, water jets, and a lazy river where you can float along in inner tubes. The pool even has a sandy bottom. You’ll also find several hot tubs here, plus a kiddie pool with its own slide.

With the exception of a lounge and gift store inside the main building, shops and restaurants are located on the Boardwalk. On the Boardwalk, you'll find several restaurants, a dance hall, a piano bar, and a sweet shop and bakery. The ESPN Club is here as well. In the evening, entertainers and midway games appear.

The main pool, Luna Park, is shared by both resorts, as are the two quiet pools.

    Dining, Lounges & Entertainment

The Belle Vue Lounge serves coffee and pastries in the morning, and is a full-service bar in the evening. It is located inside the resort's main building.

Out on the Boardwalk, you'll find the rest of the resort's dining and entertainment options. The Flying Fish Cafe is one of Disney's signature dining establishments, and as the name implies, it specializes in seafood. The Big River Grille & Brewing Works is a brewpub and restaurant, with a classic American menu. The ESPN Club serves up live sports on 100 video screens, along with a full menu of favorites like wings, chili and burgers. Trattoria al Forno offers casual Italian dining.

    Number of Rooms: 2109
    Category: Moderate
Maximum persons per room: 4 (2 if booking a King room)
    Room size: 300 Sq Ft.
Charge for 3rd and 4th guest: $15 per night / per guest
Credit Cards accepted: Disney Gift Card, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB

    Overview

This bright and colorful tropical resort is divided into six villages, each representing an area of the Caribbean: Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Aruba, Jamaica, Martinique and Barbados. The villages surround Barefoot Bay, a 45-acre lake, and each village has a white sand beach on the lake. In the middle the lake is Caribbean Cay, an island where you'll find a playground and plenty of places to sit and relax.

Check-in takes place at the Custom House, by the resort's entrance. Oid Port Royale is the center of activity; it's where you'll find the food court and restaurant, the main pool, the shops, marina and arcade.

The rooms at the Caribbean Beach resort were recently refurbished, and now have two queen beds in most rooms. Some rooms also have a pull-down bunk-size bed that brings room occupancy up to 5 persons. Preferred rooms are located in the villages closest to Old Port Royale, and are slightly more expensive.

Unique to this resort are the pirate rooms, which are specially themed and inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and ride. These rooms feature beds shaped like pirate ships.

The main pool, Fuentes del Morro, is themed as a colonial Spanish fortress, and offers two waterslides, water cannons and a waterfall. There are 6 quiet pools in the resort's villages.

    Rooms

Standard, preferred, water and pool view, and preferred rooms have two queen beds or one king bed, and some of the queen bed rooms have a pull-down bunk-size bed. Rooms with this extra bed can accommodate a party of 5. There is a two-sink vanity outside the bathroom, and each room has a TV, small table and chairs, mini-fridge and coffeemaker. King bed rooms can be booked for an additional charge. If you wish to be located close to Old Port Royale, you can book a preferred room, which will be in the villages of Trinidad North or Martinique. There is also an additional charge for these rooms.

The pirate rooms have pirate-ship beds, a barrel for a nightstand, a dresser that looks like a pile of crates, and the famous skull and crossed-swords logo on the curtain separating the vanity area from the sleeping area.

    Dining & Lounges

The Old Port Royale food court serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has five stations, serving everything from pizza and pasta to burgers and deli sandwiches.

There is also a table-service restaurant, Shutters, with classic American fare and island-inspired specialties.

The Banana Cabana pool bar offers the usual wine, beer, and cocktails, along with specialty tropical drinks.

To view menus of the food court and bar, check out the DIS Restaurant Menu Database.

    Pools & Recreation

The Fuentes del Morro pool features two waterslides and water cannons, all in a colonial Spanish fortress. There's also a shipwreck play area with mini-slides two 12-person hot tubs. Six quiet pools are scattered around the resort.

Bike rentals are available at the marina, which also offers fishing excursions and a pirate cruise for kids from 4 to 12 years of age. There are movies at night, and beachside volleyball.

The Goombay Games arcade is inside Old Port Royale.

    Transportation

Bus service is provided to all four theme parks, both water parks, and Disney Springs.

Due to the sprawling size of this resort, an internal bus system circles the resort and stops at each village, as well as the Custom House and Old Port Royale. Buses to the parks also stop at each village, so take that into account if you need to be somewhere at a specific time.

For more photos & information, and to make a reservation, visit the Caribbean Beach Resort page at wdwinfo.com.

    Disney's Contemporary Resort
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort

    4600 North World Drive
    Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
    (407) 824-1000

Maximum persons per room: 5 (plus child in crib)
Total Number of rooms: 1041 at Contemporary, 295 at Bay Lake Tower
    Check-in: 3pm (4pm for villas) | Check-out: 11am

    Overview

This iconic property was one of the first two resorts at Walt Disney World. It's the only resort within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom, and the only resort where you can watch the monorail whiz by as you're having breakfast with Mickey. The 14-story Grand Canyon Concourse is home to shops, restaurants, and the monorail station. You can book a room with a Magic Kingdom view at this deluxe resort, and watch Wishes from your balcony. Rooms in the Garden Wing are close to the pool and Bay Lake.

Standard rooms at the Contemporary are among the most spacious at any Disney resort, with two queen beds or a king bed, and a daybed. Views of the Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake can be reserved. Club level rooms are in the main tower, and a number of suites are available.

Bay Lake Tower is a Disney Vacation Club resort, located right next to the Contemporary Tower and connected by a skybridge. The resort shares amenities with the Contemporary; all shops and restaurants are there, and Bay Lake Tower guests have access to the Contemporary's pools and recreational faciities. Guests may reserve studios, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom villas. The Top of the World Lounge at the very top of Bay Lake Tower is a private lounge for DVC members staying on property, offering spectacular views and a full bar.

Note: Unlike other resorts with neighboring DVC buildings, the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower maintain separate check-in areas. If you're checking in at the Contemporary, go to the front desk on the first floor of the main building. If you're staying at Bay Lake Tower, go to the front desk on the first floor of that building.

The California Grill, one of Disney World's signature restaurants, is atop the Contemporary tower, and boasts great views of Wishes. Have breakfast and dinner with Mickey and his pals at the famous Chef Mickey's, on the fifth-floor concourse, or enjoy American cuisine at The Wave. Order quick service favorites from touch screens at the Contempo Cafe; a number of other quick service spots and lounges can be found around the resort.

Since these resorts sit right between Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, it's not surprising that recreation centers around water activities. Parasailing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, boat rentals, tubing and fishing are all on offer here. There are two pools at the Contemporary, and Bay Lake Tower has its own pool.

    Rooms

At the Contemporary, whether you're in the tower or the garden wing, room decor is modern and elegant. Rooms have two queens or a king, and a daybed. There is a desk with chair, and the bathrooms are large and well-appointed. A mini-fridge and coffeemaker are provided. This resort features some of the best views on property, especially on the higher floors, and rooms with views of the Magic Kingdom can be reserved.

There are two club levels; the Atrium Club is on the 12th floor, and the Tower Club is on the 14th floor and is for guests in the resort's 25 suites. Cast members are available to assist guests with planning and reservations, and guests have access to a lounge serving continental breakfast in the morning, and appetizers, snacks and beverages in the afternoon and evening.

At the Bay Lake Tower, studios and villas are also decorated in a modern style, with touches of retro whimsy. Studios have a queen bed and sofa bed, and a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, mini-fridge, coffeemaker and sink. One and two bedroom villas have a living room with TV, sleeper sofa and sleeper chair, a full kitchen and dining area, and a washer and dryer. The master bedroom has a king bed and TV; the master bath features a jetted tub. In two bedroom villas, the second bedroom has two queen beds or a queen and sofabed. There is also a full bath and TV.

The 3-bedroom, two-story Grand Villas have similar amenities to the one and two bedroom villas in terms of the living area, kitchen and master suite, but have a dining table for up to 12. four bathrooms, and two queen beds in the second and third bedrooms. These luxurious villas sleep up to 12 people.

    Dining & Lounges

The California Grill is one of the more sought-after dining experiences at Disney World. Situated atop the Contemporary Tower, the restaurant offers beautiful views, and is a prime viewing spot for Wishes - you'll even hear the show's soundtrack. The menu features Pacific Coast cuisine, and an extensive wine selection is available.

If you'd rather dine with Mickey and his friends, Chef Mickey's offers character breakfasts and dinners on the Grand Canyon Concourse. Or, visit The Wave, which serves up fresh American cuisine and feature draft beers.

The Contempo Cafe is the resort's main counter service location; stop by to grab a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner and fill your Rapid Fill mug. Gourmet coffees and baked goods are available at the Contemporary Grounds, and the Sand Bar serves up burgers and more by the main pool.

The California Grill and The Wave each have their own lounge; or visit the Outer Rim on the concourse for specialty cocktails and great views of Bay Lake. For guests of Bay Lake Tower, the Cove Bar offers snacks and beverages at the Bay Cove Pool.

The Top of the World Lounge is on the top floor of Bay Lake Tower, and serves light snacks and drinks, along with spectacular views. It is exclusively for use by Disney Vacation Club members staying on property; identification is required.

To view menus of the food court and bar, check out the DIS Restaurant Menu Database.

    Pools & Recreation

Guests of the Contemporary have two pools to choose from. The main pool, behind the tower, has a waterslide, 2 whirlpool tubs, and a water play area for the kids. The Bay Lake quiet pool is right on the shore of the lake. Cabanas can be rented here.

Bay Lake Tower has its own pool, which is gated and is only for use by guests of that resort. The Bay Cove pool has a waterslide, whirlpool tub, and water play area. Guests of Bay Lake Tower may also use either of the pools at the Contemporary.

Sammy Duval's Watersports Centre offers the widest variety of water recreational options of any Disney resort. Parasailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing are available here, as are boat rentals. If you prefer to stay on dry land, there's tennis, volleyball, and evening campfires.

The Olympiad Fitness Center has full workout facilities, as well as massages.

    Transportation

Monorails depart from the Grand Canyon Concourse, and take you to the Magic Kingdom, Ticket and Transportation Center, and the Polynesian and Grand Floridian resorts. To get to Epcot, take a monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center and then board the Epcot monorail.

If you'd rather walk to the Magic Kingdom, it's just across the road from the Contemporary. Plan on a 10 minute walk.

Boat service is provided to the Wilderness Lodge & Villas, and Fort Wilderness campground.

For all other locations - Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, and the water parks - catch a bus from the Contemporary Resort.
