After reading about all of the resort hopping that goes on I think I might try it, but who takes care of the transporting of the luggage? The whole thing sounds a little stressful to me, I may not be ready for such a leap but what a great way to solve a decision making problem!!!

Disney moves your bags for you to your new resort. Just have bell services pick up your bags the morning you check out and let them know where you need them to go.;)

I usually take a cab to my new resort, and my luggage goes with me (with four people and a couple suitcases, we usually request a "van" cab due to space issues). I have also allowed Disney to transfer my luggage and have never had a problem. Of course do not expect your luggage to arrive at your new resort until sometime in the afternoon. The resorts transfer luggage at their own pace.

I would also suggest taking a cab and moving your own luggage. They lost mine the only time I had them move it for me. Won't be doing that again.

Actually, I don't think there IS much resort hopping going on. Remember when you read about it on these boards it is a VERY small minority of VERY die-hard Disney resort aficianados.

I think most folks would find it stressful, as you suggest, and just wouldn't want to expend the time and effort while on vacation.

Just look at all the thought that goes into room location at a resort, ie: faxing requests, wanting certain buildings, room types, well, you have to do all this TWICE if you switch resorts. I think it's enough trouble to pack once to go on vacation, no way I want to pack and unpack 2 or 3 times.

I have to agree with you Bob NC except that for people like me who only get to go every couple of years it's a great way to experience more of the resorts. I have been very undecided about where to stay when we go in Jan. It's been between AKL, WL, CR and Poly. I think I've got it narrowed down to AKL and WL and am thinking that I could split my stay (7nights) but haven't decided if it's worth the stress! But who's to say I have to pack neatly for the move between resorts? I could just throw everything in bags!! My husband is not a huge WDW fan but maybe staying at these uniquely themed resorts will convert him!

We have switched resorts on our last 3 trips in a row. Its no hassle......and.......the bell services guy who picked up our luggage offered to drive us to our new resort......;) so very easy for us. We gave a very nice tip !!:)

I'm not saying it's a hassle....

After going to your first resort, ask for all of your room requests to be met, get assigned your room, maybe wait for it to be ready, unpack, get settled in....Enjoy your resort for a couple days...

then

Take all your clothes out of the dressers, (Now you have dirty clothes to keep separated), pack your bags, gather any souvies you've purchased, call bell services, (and tip them again), go to the front desk to double check your bill and check out. Arrange for your luggage to be transfered, decide how you'll transport yourself to your new resort. Get to your new resort, ask for all your room requests to be met, (and hope you get as lucky in getting your requests met as you were 3 days ago), get assigned your room, maybe wait for it to be ready, hope your luggage arrives, unpack, get settled in, enjoy your resort for a couple days......

Hassle?....naaaaaa

We're staying 3 nights at CSR then, as a surprise to my DD & DGD, 5 nights at AKL. On the day of the "move" I'm sending my girls to Discovery Cove for the day. I'll use a cab to move myself and my luggage to AKL where I'll unpack, explore & do some pool time. (Not in that order if room not ready.) Then, I'm going to have rabbittz from yourride, bring the girls to AKL instead of CSR, where I'll be waiting in the lobby with the camera to record thier reaction to the AKL! I thought about having Disney move the luggage, but since I need to move as well, I'll just do the cab thing.

Oh Bob - aren't most issues involved with a vacation at WDW a little bit hair raising!? What's one more? Isn't that part of what makes it fun and exciting!! Naaaaaah? Yeah maybe you're right!!!!

Resort hopping is not for everyone, but we love it. For us it's not a hassle because we don't move in when we are on vacation. We have a seperate bag for dirty clothes so that's not a problem. As for getting to the resorts, we are going to be doing something anyway, so we go to a park and then, at the end of the day, when we are ready, we go to the new resort to check in. The only thing we have to do differently is to carry a day bag with things we might need while our room is getting ready.

I agree that I don't think the majority of people do it. For some people it would be a hassle. Just as some people don't like the All Stars and some people (like my son) don't like the Grand Floridian (he says it's too fancy). I enjoy the different resorts for what each has to offer too much to limit myself to just one on a trip. And, I like the idea of walking out of my room and being close to where I want to spend the day at. Trying to decide on just one would be too difficult a choice (my dream vacation would be a week at each, starting with the All Stars and working my way up to the Grand Floridian).

I would suggest that if anyone has an inkling to try it, to do it once to see if you like it. I wouldn't suggest that you do 4 resorts in 7 nights like we are this year, but 1 hop would let them know if they like it or not. If you know you won't like it, then don't try. Hey, it's your vacation. A time to relax the way that fits you best. Enjoy.
