Hi I am new on these boards and have been reading posts and have to say I am already addicted!!! lol

Our family will be going to WDW in June for a week and we have some parks in mind but have a few extra days and can't decide what to do with them. Of course I am an anxious worry wart and planner which is why I'm thinking about this now.

I have been reading about people resort hopping and thought that would be fun so my question is....Can we go resort hopping one day even if we are not staying in one of the resorts? We got a great deal this year at the Marriott in downtown which is where we will be staying but would love to check out the resorts for next time.

As long as you don't mention "pool hopping" around here (the boards) it is a taboo subject. I will spare you my particular views on the debate about it :) My fam and I always save a day to go "monorailing" we go to the poly for an early lg out cm lanyards!!! then we get on the monorail and go to GF and the contemporary (pin trading all the while) at the contemporary we go downstairs and out the back to the boat to the wilderness lodge from there back on the derful way to spend a day. Don't forget that they have a petting zoo at fort wilderness, maybe one day you could head over there eat at the resteraunt onsite and go to the petting zoo then catch chip-n-dales caampfire sing along and toast smores. MMM. Boy I can't wait till Oct!

my DD was puhing the buttons on the mouse and i'm afraid it messed up what i said about luch at the Kona Cafe. oops.

Absolutely you can, I used to do this with my mom even when I was younger...we had a condo right outside Disney property. My mom and I would spend a non park day to ride the bus/monorail/boats to the various different resorts to shop and have something to eat. It was a fun "girl's day" while my dad and brothers went off golfing or something of that sort. In June my MIL and I are planning on leaving the kids with FIL and DH while she and I do the same...she has never been in the resorts so it is a great way to show her.

>>> pool hopping
You may visit the resorts, look around, take pictures, eat at the restaurants and food courts, attend shows (Hoop De Doo, etc.), view animals (Animal Kingdom Lodge), etc. but you may not change into your swimsuit and use the exercise area or pool area. (A very small number of exceptions apply to the latter, mostly for Disney Vacation Club members.)

Between Thanksgiving and New Years is a wonderful time to tour resorts and admire the decorations.

Last trip, last day, we had a ball resort hopping/pin trading. We caught a bus at DTD to the CR, took the monorail to the GF, and then the Polynesian. Then we took the monorail from the TTA to Epcot. Caught a bus to POFQ, and had bienets and took the boat back to DTD.

We had the best time!

We are staying onsite, but we are planninf to see lots of the resorts this time. I can't wait to see the Christmas decorations!

We always take a day to go resort hopping while we are vacationing at Disney. Last time we went to Coronado Springs and let our DD play on the playground (best one on Disney property). Then we rented one of those bicycles that hold 2 people ....it has 4 wheels, a canopy, and a basket on the front where the kiddos sit. I forgot what they are called. And we rode around Coronado Springs. Then we rode Disney transportation over to the boardwalk. We strolled around that, looked in the Swan and Dolphin hotels. We went over and had the worlds best ice cream at Beaches N Cream, at Disney's Beach Club resort. And we also did the monorail loop....strolled around the Poly, the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary. It's a lot of fun!

Thanks everyone for responding.

And NO I wasn't talking about pool hopping.

It sounds like there are alot of different things to see and do at all the resorts and I never realized you could if you weren;t staying there. I can't wait. It'll be great to just take a day off and walk around, take pics, etc.

Does anyone know...if we are in our own car....is there a place we can park and then resort hop?
