Resort Gyms: Rules for "street clothes" and sandals?

Are street clothes and sandals allowed in the resort gyms?

I have osteoarthritis in my right knee. I rented a scooter for my trip last October and it was good for my knee, but a PITB in general. I would rather not use one on my next trip so I went to a special osteoarthritis clinic when I came home. I've lost 25 lbs (so far) and I have been doing my physical therapy nearly every day. My PT said, "Motion is the lotion." and I use a peddler every morning for 10-20 minutes. I find that it makes a really big difference in my knee pain the rest of the day.

We have plans for December (Polynesian Villas and Swan) and April (BWV). I would like to use the resort gym in the morning before we head off to the parks. Ideally, I would like to jump on a bike for 10-20 minutes to warm things up and then head out from the gym. I would rather not have to wear gym clothes & sneakers and have to go all the way back to my room to change so I would have either shorts or jeans on and maybe sandals if it's going to be warm. Would I be allowed to use the bike (nothing else) in jeans or shorts and sandals?

Clothing is not likely to be an issue; sneakers instead of sandals is for foot safety (obviously) but my guess is that's it's unlikely you'll even encounter a CM in the resort gym.
I believe the gyms have lockers in them or just outside of them (picturing Kidani Village here) as well so another option could be to toss your shoes in one of them to grab later if you find you need the sneakers.

Are they cubbies? Are you recommending that I leave my shoes there all day? I admit that I have not ever been inside one of the resort gyms ...

No it's a real locker like you would see at the spa with a key and stuff, should have 24-hr access - again I'm basing this on what I know of Kidani's setup and assuming they are all similar at the deluxe resorts.

@robinb I can't help with the Disney resorts, but for you stay at the Swan you can contact them via a web form on this page and then you will know for certain.

I've used the gyms at WL, BWI, BC/YC and GF and have never even encountered a CM in any of them. I don't think anyone is going to question you if you feel comfortable riding a stationary bike with sandals on.

And just in case you aren't aware, there is not a gym at the Poly. You have to walk over to the GF and use the one there.

Wondering if someone with recent experience using the resort gyms can comment about whether or not lockers are available? My gym and my local recreation center are open but lockers are not available (all have been secured closed). I don’t know if the no lockers thing is unique to my state (I’m quite a distance from Florida), but it seems to be a requirement for any gym that is reopening here to not allow usage of lockers.
