I am going to do something I always wanted to do (I hope). I am going to book a trip for myself. I have found incredible deals on flights and Airtran vacations has some really cheap packages to Orlando. I NEED to get away -I would like a resort with a nice pool, room service and comfortable beds. I need to relax. Of course I may throw in a day to Disney! Can anyone recommend a resort for me? The Radisson Resort Parkway Orlando is cheap as is the Days Hotel Maingate. I am open to other suggestions, just needs to be reasonable.

Thanks!

Have you thought about Swan and Dolphin? It's on property but, because it is not owned by Disney, often has really great rates.

I stayed at the Omni Championsgate last year and loved it. I got it at a special rate through Travelzoo for $99 a night. You are pretty far from Disney (I think about a 15 minute drive), but I do think they ran a shuttle over to the parks. The pool was very nice and the staff was great there. If I were going down there by myself and wanted a quiet resort-type vacation, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Have fun whatever you do!

Well...

As a solo traveler I have a few thoughts.

1. Since you want room service it does bump the price up. My first choices would be Swan/Dolphin IF you qualify for a deal. If not, I would aim for DTD.

2. Will you drive or rent a car? If not, definitely stick with DTD area!

3. If Disney is not the main purpose then you have some other options. If you would consider hotwire and/or priceline you can get some great deals. I saw several good deals on there today when I was playing around. www.betterbidding.com has lists to help you figure out what you are getting. The package deals are often good too.

The Radisson seems to get mixed reviews. Have you seen a deal for the Shearton Safari? It gets the Starwood beds which are great. Radisson uses the "sleep number" I tried it last week.... I don't seem to have a number LOL!

I (again hopefully) will be going in the next couple of weeks. I don't have to have room service. I probably won't rent a car. I was hoping that I could find a resort with a rental car desk so if I needed a car -save money and I figure I plan to stay at the hotel most of the time. So I do need a hotel with a restaurant or at least a good vending machine!!!

You are probably better off at a large resort with more dining options, shuttles if you won't have a car. Check AllEars and Mousesavers, see if they have any new deals.

I also agree with CarolA about trying a Resort Priceline bid. Check biddingfortravel for wins, in the WDW area I think the Omni is the furthest away but you could get lucky and get the Hilton, Hyatt or Gaylord. 3* bids in the area are a bit more of a risk as while most of the hotels are fine, there are a few that probably need to be dropped a category. FWIW.

Another option would be to stay at one of the many hotels on Palm Parkway or near the Crossroads centre. There are many restaurants at all price levels within easy walking distance. Most of the hotels run some sort of shuttle service to Disney and, because you are close to Disney, a cab wouldn't cost too much.

If you go up to the DreamsUnlimited link at the top of the page you can get Gaylord Palms for $109. Atrium View.

I saw a few reviews for Gaylord Palms that said it was really loud. I have been looking at Downtown Disney hotels now, either Buena Vista Palace or Regal Sun. I also saw a "mystery" Downtown Disney resort for $69 a night. It said it was renovated in 2007 and has 2 pools. It is on a site called Bookit.com

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately these packages get confusing and a few have gone up in price. I am trying to figure out when I can get the best price for both airfare and hotel.

FWIW, check out TripAdvisor. The BVP gets much better reviews than the Regal Sun (old Grosvenor). Check out betterbidding for ideas about "mystery" Hotwire places. FWIW.

OK I have figured out what I want

1. hotel must be clean and bug free (not obsessively just normally)

2. Have food on site, not sure if I want to pay for a rental car

3 nice pool I can lounge by, must look nice and relaxing

4 hot tub

5 quiet rooms

the following are not necessities but would be nice:

close to other restaurants
nice landscaping, paths to walk on
rental car counter
balcony
view of Disney
spa
room service
cabana boy to fetch my drinks :thumbsup2

Basically I would like the Grand Floridian only at Days Inn prices!!!!! Any ideas??

This is one of my favorite off-property hotels and fits your criteria. Plus it's close to DTD and many restaurants. Sometimes it shows up on travelzoo.

Although I've never stayed there, the Caribe Royale is nice and Mary has some discounts on her site, mousesavers.com.

I've also used skoosh.com a couple times and found some good deals. They're fairly new, but have been easy to use and I had no problems with cancellations.

HTH!!! :goodvibes

I was just looking since i am going down 10/29 - 11/3 and all star and pop century were 59 at night
