Resort Fees, if Disney Charged one, what would you do?

Yes we used a travel agent to get a great rate at the Poly. I understand the hotels like the resort fees/parking fees, etc. because they get to keep the whole amount than paying a commission to the travel agent.

I don't see how they CAN tack on a resort fee after you booked, when the rate was already stated and those perks are already listed as included!! I agree it would be a nightmare trying to figure out who to charge. I'm guessing if they did add these fees, it would have to be starting on dates not a already released, like you said.

If you look on places like Hotels.com, they have it listed in tiny print hidden in all the other information. For example, I looked up International Palms Resort (first one on the list) for next weekend. Under all the room and rate information is a little blue link that says See Small Print for Additional Details or Extra Charges:

So, yes, you have to pay the resort fees even if you use a TA, or prebooking site.

And to answer the questions, we stay off site now, and adding a resort fee on top of the cost of the room would definitely keep us away.

Last week, we stayed over Thursday night, after DS's school trip to Epcot. If we had stayed at a value, it would have been $130 that night. Instead, I paid $98.xx for a larger room, bigger beds, more pools and way less busy off site hotel. Yes, I paid $20 in parking at Epcot, but I would have had to pay that anyways, as we wouldn't have had the time to go to the value resort to get a parking pass before meeting the buses at Epcot, to avoid the parking fee (got tickets that day, so no Magic Bands or linking for FP+).

We are planning a family trip in October this year; with 6 adults, 1 teenager and 2 infants, we're looking at renting a house. Much easier to deal with, as we will have 2 cars (my girls are splitting the cost of a rental, and sharing it; as they are both flying from west half of the country) and I don't mind cooking for everyone, or staying at the house with the babies so the kids can have some adult time. (Yes, that's my plan, mwahahahaha, grandma time!!!!!)
