Resort Booking Rate Discrepancies

Has anyone ever run into the issue where the pricing for a specific resort and room is different online than when speaking with a Disney agent? I ran into the oddest situation tonight, where I started booking online, but had to call to ask a question, and for the exact same resort and same room option, the website pricing was significantly less than what she was quoting on the phone. The agent also mentioned that there were room options that showed no available online. Odd that the two resources aren't aligned. Just a random thought.
 
Were you maybe doing room only and the agent was doing a package?:confused3
 
Nope we reviewed all the details piece by piece and the pricing didn't match up. The agent seemed surprise, but since I was getting a better deal online, of course that's where I booked. But it made me wonder why the pricing is off and where else does the pricing not align.
 

Was the agent quoting you prices INCLUDING tax? That is how they do it on the phone...but online they show the pre tax price and don't update it until a later step.

Yes, this happened to me also. In my case, I think the error was with the website, which is sometimes slow to update.
 
Were you using a promo? They have to manually apply them, so if you were seeing rooms unavailable and she saw them available AND had higher prices it sounds like you had on a discount and she didn't.

Happened last week. Was checking availability online for near dates. Called to see if their was any inventory available that was not showing up online. For a room at yc that was online the cm quoted a higher price. Same category, etc. She suggested booking online.
 
I have found several times lately that the phone CM does not correctly locate the promo rooms.
Both times I was trying to change an existing reservation to a new room/rate online and got an error code so I had to call. So I knew the rate and the room was available
They first gave me rack rate and then when I gave them the promo I wanted they said it was not available.
When I explain that I am looking at one available online they said, oh, let me try this and miraculously they located the lower rate and the room available.
I have no clue what their system looks like or why it's hard for them to find best available but it is.
So I bet unless you pushed for them to dig, they gave you rack rate
 
After doing the math, the agent was quoting me the rack rate and didn't include the promo price. Great note to people when booking! Also as a note, I went to book tickets for the Club Villain event, saw the tickets online and didn't book them right away, I got distracted. 2hrs later it showed unavailable online, thought I'd take the chance and call, and sure enough they were available and I bought them through an agent. So it's a good note to people that sometimes the website is off on what is actually available.
