Resort Area Check-in vs. carrying luggage on DME

We're using DME on our upcoming trip, and plan on having our luggage delivered to our room when we arrive. Leaving however, we're debating checking our luggage at the resort, or bringing it on DME back to MCO and checking our bags at the airport. Is the time saved checking luggage onsite worth it, or are you increasing the risk of misdirected bags. DME has a good track record of delivering bags when you arrive (even with delays, they still seem to get there)...we just weren't sure about the return. Thanks for your help!

I always check my bags at the resort. It doesn't take long and my luggage has never been misdirected.

Check your luggage at your resort. Why carry it with you on DME, just to stand in line at the airport to check your luggage in. I've never had a lost bag doing RAC.

I use RAC all the time for my checked bags. Haven't had an issue yet. It has been reported that those using RAC very early in the day for late in the day flights may have a problem since the bags can be put aside for later delivery. Not sure how factual that is tho.

I stayed at BLT in March, I tossed around this decision. I had a car and ended up taking the luggage with me. First, I would have had to drag the luggage over to the Contemporary. My flight was around 10:30am, which would have meant I had to have it over there before 7:30am. So that was another factor, I had more time by taking it myself.

If I am using DME, I will always use RAC if the timing works out. Last fall, I possibly would have missed my flight if I hadn't used RAC and would have needed to check my bags at the airport.

The DME bus (a big yellow Mears bus) seemed to be on time, but then took forever making multiple stops at other resorts. Finally we were on our way - late - to MCO. Terminal A folks were dropped off first. I needed Terminal B. We were late arriving anyway and then I saw the security line!!! Took almost 45 minutes. By the time I stopped quickly at a restroom and at a fast food place for a sandwich to go, they were boarding the plane.

If I would have needed to check my bag and if there was any kind of a line there, I'm not sure I would have made it in time.

Thanks very much for your insights. I had been leaning toward Resort Check-In, but needed to hear some reassurance from folks who have used it.
