Residence Inn Maingate vs. HOJO- Walking

We stayed at the Residence Inn Maingate last time we went to Disneyland. We LOVE it there because it is so nice to have a kitchen and separate bedroom and still be within walking distance.

BUT....the walk is a little bit far, especially when pushing a stroller.

This time we are staying at HOJO in a Kids Suite because we were able to get the Entertainment rate. On a map, HOJO looks slightly closer, but now I'm hearing its a 20 min. walk. That's about how long it took us to walk (briskly) from the Residence Inn. I was hoping the walk would be shorter this time.

Has anyone walked from both places? Is the walk from HOJO shorter? *Please say yes!*

I guess it depends what you are used to. After walking up and down steep hills with a stroller in Seattle, walking the flats at Disneyland is a breeze. I stayed at Hojo last month and I didn't think the walk was far at all. You will walk 10 times as much inside the park as you will once you leave the park.

Hojo is a much closer walk. With RI it was at least a 20 min walk (walking briskly) but we had a group of 20 or so (and 2 strollers) and we were at the back of the property . The walk was more like 30-35 then add the crowd that is walking the same way it could take longer. Hojo with a stroller, and just the 3 of us took about 10 minutes. 15 if we were slow. But there are less crowds coming from that direction and it also depends on where your room is. Ours was located in building 2.

It seemed to me that the 8 min walk was like to the entrance of DL, not the gate. just right where the DL sign is, yeah that is an 8 min walk but then to get through security then the gates it "seems" much longer.

I put the Hojo walk at 10+ minutes. Ten minutes if you don't have young kids, elderly folks or if you didn't just spend 14 hours at Disneyland!

When we last stayed there, if I was walking back with my 7 year old after a long day, and also with my fil who was in his 70's and not in the best shape at all, it took close to 15 minutes. In the morning, we'd do iteasily in 10. Once when I walked back there to get a jacket my dd had forgotten, I made it out to the Hojo, and back to the castle hub in under 25 minutes. I was booking considering I had to go through security and the turnstile to get back into the park! I wanted to see the fireworks but I also was so sick of my dd whining about being cold I ran back to get it!

But I think most people will make it back and forth in less than 20. My best advice is that if you have kids under 5, bring your own stroller. Its roughly a half mile, most people walk a twenty minute mile on average so 10 is about safe in the morning in particular.

I saw a review just now where the poster parked at the Mickey and Friends parking garage, rode the tram to there and then drove to the Hojo.

You can also take the ART but that takes about as much time if not more all total than just walking because the ART passes the Hojo going back to it, stops at several other hotels, then loops back and stops at the Hojo.
