We're going to our first DVC WDW trip in May/June, and I think it might be nice to go next time for January 1st 2011. Doing the math (I try not to), that means if I want to book at any non-home resort, I'll be at WDW at the time.

Do I just call the regular DVC number to make reservations, or can I make them in person? As a new DVC member, I'd like to possibly have a look at a resort before I book.

Wondering this also - we will be in Disney this Sept. when my window opens up for our trip next year!!

I've called from a resort to make a reservation. I think I just used the hotel phone and asked to be connected to MS.

I didn't even think of doing that. I've always used my cell phone and called the toll free #.

I've only done it once. It took awhile to get connected, wasn't a slam dunk thing. Now I have a cell phone, then I didn't.

The cell phone costs for me would be crazy, as I'd be charged huge roaming charges. Canadian telecommunication companies are horrible.

I assume you can go see a resort just by going there, no appointment needed. I can see the rooms via photos off the internet, but it might be nice to see he resort first hand.

As I said, I'm pretty sure the resort eventually connected me to MS. I was at VWL and suddenly decided that that was where I wanted our 40th anniversary celebration to be held, not at the GV at BWV that I had booked day by day 11 months out. The CM was surprised that I wanted the change, but I did and it was done!

We give Coast Guard recruits who spend Christmas with us ATT Phone cards as gifts. Getting one and using it in the US would be a good idea for you if the Canadian cell phones cost too much to use. You get an 800 # to use from the DVC resorts and the costs is very reasonable.

Yes, you can just go, walk around the other resorts. Some have even mentioned being let in to see a villa that's unoccupied, but I've never done that.
