"reserved" tables for Wishes Dessert party? CM says NO

I have seen countless photos online of table placards with a family's name written on them, reserving a table during the Wishes tomorrowland Dessert Party. I just called and made reservations for July 3rd, and the CM on the dining phone line told me that it was standing room only and that some tables would be available. I questioned him about this but he reiterated what is in the official blurb that they read to you when you make a ressie. What gives?? I would tend to believe US, as I know that they don't give accurate info always, but he was READING it to me, not just chit chatting. Any help would be great. Thanks:confused3

tables are assigned for the eating part--so you will be guaranteed to have a place to sit and enjoy your desserts...but people get up and move closer to the railing to watch. So I guess you would say it's both reserved tables AND standing room only at fireworks time. Suspect they make the CMs read that so people don't think they will all have a view from their tables.

The Dessert Party concept is not all that difficult. It is different than most other Disney dining experiences, but not difficult. Why, oh WHY, can Disney not give accurate information about it to the CMs (or, indeed, to the on-line computer system)?

You DO have a specific table, and while some people stand, some people also sit at their tables for the entire fireworks and see just fine.

No matter when the CM or computer says your reservation time is, there is only 1 party. It had always started exactly 1 hour before the fireworks but now due to the Magic & Memories castle show there are reports that they are seating guests about 10 minutes before the hour. IF the fireworks are at 9 pm there is still no reason to show up more than 15-20 minutes before 8 pm. It does not change your table assigment and does not change what time you are admitted.

DD and I went to the Dessert Party a few weeks ago. Our table was reserved (here is a pic of DD at the table - you can see the name card on the table).

When the CM brought us to our table, she mentioned that a lot of people like to stand at the railing for the fireworks. I thought it was very nice of her to let us know this in advance.

Perhaps that's what the CM was trying to tell you? :confused3

I don't know why they told you that- it's just like everyone has said- they check you in and walk you to a table with your name on it. A lovely event!

THANK YOU!

I've been trying to make this reservation online, it kept saying "no spots"

I saw your post and called them instead.

We will be at the dessert party on July 3rd with you!

I think I just put 2+2 together from another thread.

I was given a 8:20pm reservation time for the 10pm fireworks.

I am now thinking that for THIS night (7/3 maybe 7/4), they are making it standing room only to fit in more people. They have openings starting at 7pm which is crazy. It would be impossible to seat everyone in the area if they started that early.

I'm actually really nervous and slightly disappointed if that's the case.

Any other guesses?

Yes, I'll give you another guess...they just gave you the wrong time. Period. If you read other threads on the Wishes party you'll soon find that many people are given odd times like that -especially if booking online, though some booked on the phone and were given really crazy times, including 7:00 PM for a 10:00 PM Wishes time. But when you get there too early, a sign will be up telling you to return for check-in shortly before 9:00 PM (when the party actually starts) They do not over-sell this event to standing room only...you're paying for a dessert buffet WITH a guaranteed good view...making it SRO would defeat the purpose because those in the back would have no view.

I think catne has it exactly correct.

And no matter what they tell you on the phone, the only CMs who seem to absolutely know are the CMs who work the Dessert Party. If you are going to be at MK any evening before 7/3, stop by the Terrace and ask at the podium what the plans are for 7/3.

Before we went to the dessert party our times were all wrong. I called several times and it took up to the week before we left to actually get the right time.
Yes we had a seat like stated before and some people do stand. But you can see from your seats. My DD and neice stood up so they could get a great pic of Tinkerbell flying over.
note date:
Oh and this was on Christmas Eve.
