I have an existing reservation and deposit directly through Disney. We decided to renew our AAA membership and it occurred to me to try to use my AAA discount. I was informed (as I suspected) that I would need to go through a AAA TA in order to get the AAA discount. The CM also told me that there is a process for AAA to take over my existing reservation so my deposit and dining reservations would stay the same. This all makes me very nervous and it's only about a $100 savings, but $100 is $100! Has anyone ever had their reservation taken over by a TA? Thanks for any/all input and have a great day!

Is this a package or a "Room Only" reservation?

You can reserve room only directly with Disney. Just ask for the AAA member discount.

AAA packages must be reserved through your AAA travel agent in which case you will not be able to make any changes to your own reservation. It must be done by the travel agent.

Here is a detailed explanation of the differences. Notice especially the cancellation policies.

You do need to call AAA to get the 10% discount off the room at least from what I've been told by AAA and Disney. I'm not sure what they mean by "transferring". Usually they cancel the current room or package and rebook. I'm with you that $100 is still a savings!

I did this once. I hated it because I knew more than the AAA person. She basically put me on hold and called disney and switched everything. I would first try calling disney and asking if they can give you the discount now that you have AAA (whether it is package deal or room only). You do get a parking thing from AAA that "gets you closer to the entrance". Don't know if you plan on driving to the parks or taking the buses.

I have tried several times with room only as well as package reservations and AAA has always been higher than booking directly through Disney.

I always book thru AAA. And when I get a pin or discount code they add it right away.. I understand your worry with adrs. But if your past your 180+. I would think you would be fine.. I priced my trip thru *** Disney and aaa and aaa was the cheapest. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for your input. I do have a package reservation, but since posting I have been informed by AAA that since it's been more than 30 days since I made the reservation that they can't transfer it. I decided I'm ok with it and will know to check with AAA before booking next time. Keeping my fingers crossed for a PIN of some sort!
