hi, i'm going to WDW...staying at CBR from feb.14 to 19 with my girlfriend. My best friend who goes to WDW ALOT says that every restaurant needs reservations and/or priority seating (PS). 2 Questions: 1) Whats the difference between reservations and PS? and 2) Now i have some places i wanna go...umm.. do Akershus for character breakfast, Biergarten in Epcot, Tepanyaki in Epcot, The Plaza in MK, and Sci-Fi Drive-In in MGM, and 'Ohana in Poly need em?

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!:teeth: ::MickeyMo

As a rule, you'll want to have a PS for these restaurants. I would DEFINITELY make a PS for the character breakfast, Ohana, and the Sci-Fi. Since you'll be there during a relatively slow time of year, you might be able to get away without PS for some of the other spots. Especially if you're *very* flexible about long wait times.

A PS (Priority Seating) will, in essence, put your name on a waiting list for a table at a specified time. This is different from a reservation in that there won't be a table that's held specifically for you...

It won't cost you anything to make a PS, and there's no penalty if you don't show (well, I'm not sure if that's true for the character breakfast...) Making the PS will ensure that you can get into a specific restaurant at a given time, and is a necessity if you want to be SURE you can eat at a specific restaurant at a given time.

Sounds like you have a smart girlfriend! :D

my suggestion would be to try and make priority seating for all of them - just to be safe

the number is 407-WDW-DINE

one suggestion would be....my family did sci-fi once and didnt really enjoy it...it was ok....but i loved the 50's prime time cafe across the street much better. the atmosphere is exactly like a fiftys household....waiters and all! its great....so if you do have a chance try it out!! (you will definetly need ps for that)

ps. i think the only difference between reservations and priority seating is that the restaurant cant be held liable if they give your seats away with priority seating. if you call it reservations, that means they will definetly save you a spot....but with ps it means they'll save you a spot for so long and if they happen to give it up, its not their fault. i am taking a shot in the dark at this, but it think it is simply liability reasons, so that they arent at fault!

but anyway....HAVE FUN!!

:wave2:

A PS just means that you will be seated within a reasonable amount of time of your PS time. You are guaranteed to be seated before someone with a later PS time or a walk-up.

When it comes to PS, I believe in better safe than sorry. We always make them, even if it's a supposedly slow time of year. I don't find it to be a big deal to be "locked" into an eating schedule because WDW is so easy to navigate.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the week you are going could go either way in terms of crowds. If you are planning on celebrating Valentine's Day with a sit-down meal, I would definitely make a PS.

You definitely need a PS for the Princess Breakfast at Akershus in Norway. You cannot enter WS without giving your name/number to a CM with a checklist.

If you truly truly don't want to be locked into something the rest of the vacation, how about trying to make PS's when you are down there? You can call for free from your room in the morning to inquire as to what times are left for that evening. If there are only two of you dining, I would imagine that most of the restaurants would accommodate you easily without a PS. The only other one you may have a problem with and should probably book early is O'hana for dinner.

The number for PS is 407-wdw-dine. Don't forget to write your confirmation numbers down and take them with you.

Have a great trip!

by the way.....DEFINETLY take advantage of the fast pass

one of the best things we did was that say for example we picked out test track in epcot. we would get a fast pass and wait in the normal line to ride it the first time. then by the time we finished with the first ride, we were able to use our fast pass....it was great! twice, sometimes three times in a row....but you cant have more than one fast pass at a time :(

hope we were of help!:smooth:

2 things i forgot to mention....i'm using my parents' credit card for the PS's i make. The second thing is that i already made PS for Le Cellier's in Epcot for valentine's day dinner.

The only time you need a credit card to hold a PS is when it's a holiday, a dinner show, or Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast. It's to penalize no-shows on busy dates. This is why you needed to give one (I'm assuming) for Valentine's Day. For the rest of the week and the restaurants you listed, you will not need a credit card to hold the PS and you will not be penalized for any of those if you are a no-show.
