I figured I'd try to book this Spring's trip through an agent to see if they could dig up any magical discounts that I might not find.

Well.... We did our 180 day out ADR this week and I didn't get the times I wanted. Rather than 7:30, I got 7:50 on a few of them. That doesn't smell right to me. Anyone else had a similar experience? I'm already starting to regret not running point on this thing myself.

7:50 is a legitimate reservation time.

If you would rather have 7:30, you can book a new one yourself if you can get availability.

I don't know why your ADR's don't smell right to you. Getting an ADR within 1/2 hr of your desired time is a whole lot better than not getting one at all. Especially if it is at a popular restaurant, at a popular time, and/or during a period of heavy demand at the restaurant.

Go ahead and try to get better times yourself if the exact times are really important for you. You may need to make repeated attempts, but you have lots of time yet.

In what way do they not "smell right?" On your 180th day there were already people arriving up to 10 days before you so their 180th day came up as much as 10 days before yours. If you are looking for popular places at popular meal times it's possible that 7:50 was the closest available to 7:30.

Even though you are using a TA, you can make dining reservations on your own. For the dinner shows and CRT you would need your res number if you want to link a dining plan and not have to pay in full when you make the res. For every place else you won't need your resort res #, but you will have to wait until you're 180 days out from the reservation date.

If you must have a 7:30 res, keep trying during the next 6 months and hopefully something will come up.

Sometimes regulars forget that newbies are not WDW experienced and are not in the "know". My impression of not saying something didn't smell right was they thought 7:50 was an odd time, and how could that possibly be right? If I called my local restaurant for a reservation, they would offer :15,:30, :45, or on the hour reservations, not by 5 minute increments.

You could go to Disney's site and see if the time you wanted is available, and either book it yourself or ask the TA to change the time. I can see how certain popular restaurants would have the earliest morning slots already taken, especially if this is for busy travel time. Good luck!

You can always check online or call the reservation line to change your times. But honestly, 20 minutes is not that big of a deal as you could just arrive a little earlier at 7:30 and if the restaurant can accommodate you at that time, they will. As even with an ADR, you still have to wait for your table to be ready so arriving A little early can't hurt.

I booked my own at my 180 mark and got 7:50 for Ohana. I was trying for 6:30. I'd have been THRILLED with 6:50. If you scored ressies within half an hour of your requested times, you did pretty well!
