reservation ? with DDP from newbie-help

I will be booking a package for end of October with the dining plan and didn't know how to make reservations for meals. Do I have to have booked package first or can I go ahead and make reservations? And, do I pay for all reservations and character meals at time of booking or will the dining plan be ok. Help, I'm confused. BTW I can't book package for another two weeks (pay day). Thanks for your help!

You can book a package right now, the down payment will be due in two weeks. That should work out for you. Then start calling about your reservations right away. I suggest looking at www.allearsnet.com/, checking out the menu's and deciding what you want, then call and try to get what you can. It's alsoa good idea to sketch a rough itinerary of what parks you want to go to on what days for planning dinners.

If you stay on disney property you can go to magic hours... some say the parks are busier on those days... but I would do them if it's october. The parks close earlier in the fall.

I would also strech out your DDP. I am going in Sept. and instead of eating in the hotel cafe (I am staying at the AS), I made a reservation every morning to do a Character Breakfast close to what ever park I am doing that day. You will get a huge Buffet Breakfast that should hold you over to an early dinner. This way you don't have to worry about stopping for lunch. I have a DD and a DS who now will be able to meet and greet each character at a different place for Breakfast.

Strech the money that you are paying and let your kids start each day of with a nice treat.

If you are wanting to book a meal at the castle you have to provide a CC number to reserve it. If your using your dining plan they will deduct the points and not charge your card. Most restaurants you can make the reservations without providing any other information.

sure you can book now. i have my pkg ressies thru AAA and i called disney to make ADRs, they have no idea WHO i have my trip booked with if it is not them (or even if i HAVE on booked.) i usually just use my phone# instead of my ressie #.

go for the ADRs now-- you are loosing precious time!
