Reservation Questions: Help?!

Hello!

My boyfriend and I are booked for a week at BoardWalk Inn. We have a package which includes our resort stay, tickets, and dining. My sister (who lives in Florida) has expressed interest in coming up and joining us for a night or two during our stay. Can I add her to our reservation for a couple of days during our trip? In the past we have always been in a room with a king-size bed so I know that I will need to request two queens if she is coming even though she won't be there for the duration of our stay.

Can anyone tell me how this works?! Any suggestions on what the best course of action is? Also, can we use our dining credits to pay for her meals? Is there anything else that I should keep in mind in terms of having a guest join for a few days?

Depending on how/when you add her, she has to have the same package you have - dining, tickets, etc. Even if she's not there the whole time.

My sister has joined DH and I several times. We add her to the room when we check in, so she does not need to pay for the same tickets/any dining we have. I have never been charged the extra adult fee, regardless of where we stayed.

Knowing my sister it will be more of a last-minute decision, so I'm wondering if I can tell them on the day that she arrives instead. Do you happen to know if the rooms on the BWI side have pull-out sofas? Were you able to use your dining credits on her? Thanks again!

One time she told me the morning of her arrival (it was a break up with the flavor of the month situation, and she took a Friday afternoon flight and joined us for the weekend). I went to the front desk before we went to the park and let them know. She went to the DME desk and they set her up with the bus after finding her on our reservation and they gave me a key for her when I added her so she met us at the resort as we were getting back before dinner. We were staying at the poly at the time, so we had 2 queen beds plus a daybed. The other time we were at POR. I've never stayed at BWI but hopefully someone can come along and answer that for you.

When she stayed with us at the poly and we had the dining plan it was back in the key card days - and each card had a code on it for how many adults in the room so we could not use 3 adult dining plan credits to cover her - that said it wasn't a big deal, she was more than able to pay her own way. If she hadn't been we would have paid for her meal. I don't know though if now that everything is on magic bands whether that's still an issue.

So hopefully it's not a big deal to add her for a couple nights! I definitely don't mind paying for an extra person in the room for the nights that she is there but I wouldn't want to pay for her to be on our reservation for seven nights (including tickets and dining), especially because she already has her own tickets.

Add her to your reservation when she arrives. She will have the same onsite perks you all have, but will not be added to the package for dining, etc. SHe will need to pay the additional per person room fee.

Just add her when she arrives. Only problem is if you get a king size bed, no sofa bed, and the room occupancy is 2 . They won't go above occupancy limit. (I don't even know if BWI has king only rooms, other than the garden suites (which have 2 person occupancy and they never bend on that)).

Also she'll get a boring gray MagicBand from behind the front desk at check in (because you didn't order 30+/- days ahead for her).

She already has her own tickets so my intention is just to add her as a room-only resort guest. Is that typical? Or do most people add someone mid-week who then has the same package as the group for the duration of his/her stay?

I have added folks as room only more than once. You can do this and you do not add them to the package. The only issue is that if they arrive with you they cannot take DME until they are added.

AS to the room, at checkin ask that you are not assigned a king bed. I have never requested one, so I have no idea how they are assigned, or when the best time to request two beds is.

All standards at BWI have an occupancy limit of 5, so you won't have any trouble adding her on the day she arrives. There are 4 types of standard rooms at BWI - 2 queens with daybed, 2 queens, 1 king with daybed and 1 king. When you check-in, just make sure you aren't assigned a room with just 1 king. If you are, just ask them to switch you to a different room. If there is a particular configuration you prefer, you may want to call now and have that noted on your reservation.

She might not get any magic band at all. She might just get a card key. That's what my son got when we added him the day we arrived instead of putting him on the reservation. I asked about a gray band and they said he would be considered a day guest.

Its so odd how they charge the extra adult for when you make the reservation but not when someone is added at the resort. This is the first reservation we have upcoming with 3 "adults" because DD1 will turn 18 before our trip and we had to pay the "extra" for her as a HS senior.
