Reservation points used

This topic does some up occasionally. I just noticed all of the BWV reservations we have coming up and that are on our past trip list have "reservation points used" instead of vacation points used.

None of these reservations have come from outside the DVC system. Does anyone have any insight to offer?

The on-line system always says "Reservation points used" for any DVC resort trip you reserve, i.e., the system is not set up based on the exact definitions in the official documents of vacation points (what you use for a DVC resort trip) and reservation points (what your points become when you reserve outside the DVC resorts and can never be used for a DVC resort trip in you cancel that outside trip).

I'm specifically talking about on the Member site, where you can check current and past reservations. I don't have any develper's points, just our ordinary DVC points. Every reservation coming up in through March '10 that I have booked for BWV says "______Reservation points used." Every reservation through then at any of the other DVC's say "_______Vacation Points used." Going back for the year that shows "past vacations" it's the same, every BWV reservation says Reservation points. I own at BWV, but also at the others. I have never noticed this before, and have no idea why it is like that. Are anyone else's BWV showing up using Reservation points and not Vacation points?

Very interesting! I am seeing the same thing. All of my previous vacations at other resorts say "vacation points used" except for the ones at BWV which say "reservation points used". By the way, I own all my points at AKV. So it must be a BWV thing instead of a home resort thing.

I just switched two nights for my August trip to BWV and it shows up reservation points as well. The nights that are at AKV are listed as Vacation points.

I was wondering what the difference was myself. When I check the activity statement for the contract, it shows where they are coming from, right after it deducted the ones for AKV, so I know that it is done right.

Probably just some bad coding, as BWV has always been a DVC/Disney combined resort, we could never use "reservation" points for a Boardwalk Inn reservation, unlike other resorts.

Well, I think the member site is just problematic. My VB vacation in May is showing as 117 points used, though it should be only 104. When I called about it, MS told me that it's right in their system, and that my totals are correct. ??? So I shouldn't worry about this? What's the point of having it, especially if it is so disconnected from the actual MS system that it might not match?

What I meant by on-line system is exactly that. The website's vacation details section always shows any reservation as "reservation points used." It is just the way the system is set up and is not intended to mean "reservation points" as defined in the official documents.
