My daughter will be turning 22 on our trip next week. Would we need a reservation if we just wanted to go for dessert at Cake Bake Shop? Also, any other suggestions of somewhere to go (in a park or otherwise) for a special birthday dessert? Thank you!

They have a bakery that you can get take out from. The bar takes walk ups, I think walk ups at the restaurant can be a gamble. If you definitely want seats at a certain timeframe, I’d suggest a reservation. The amount of ADRs on the Disney site is limited, but Open Table usually has many more options available. For awhile reservations seemed to disappear/ be booked about a week out. Looking now, there are plenty of times on OT for the next several days. Maybe keep an eye on OT as your trip approaches & decide if you want a reservation or try walk up.

Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs has many special desserts & is walk up.

You do bring up a good q though- are there any actually good deserts inside Disney parks? Something you would buy even if you weren’t at Disney?

I have had so many pretty and disappointing deserts at Disney I could have written a book had I kept track. Appearance they nail often, taste? Unless the goal is a sugar rush for a kid, not so much…

Good point! Although I guess I am going more for the celebratory effect in this case. Not that I don't want it to be tasty. :thumbsup2

Agree, I have yet to hit a good desert in the parks ( some but not a lot at Disney Springs) that is why I will not do the dining plan as I don't bother with the deserts they are a waste of calories.

Disney does better at kiosk snacks. I tend to grab one a hour or two after a meal.

Back to the topic , Cake bake had been near empty - they just don't release slots to Disney, book on open table.

We just ate at Cake Bake last week. I overheard a table near us asking if they could order desserts only and that was fine. Cake Bake has a separate thick menu book just for desserts and drinks.

MDE will likely show no availability, which is untrue. I always get a table by calling the restaurant directly. Open Table is another highly recommended site.

You can get slices of cake to go. But if you want to sit and eat inside, you should get a reservation.

You can order from the right next door “The Cake Bake Shop Bakery” if you are dining at the restaurant. Not sure if the waiter would do it for you but you can always go yourself, probably at a lower price since the takeaway desserts would be added to your restaurant total, I suppose.

Just a heads up: the current seasonal/monthly cake specials are: Neapolitan cake (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla) and lemon blueberry. I tried the lemon and blueberry but the champagne and raspberry 🍰 still wins 🎉. Not a chocoholic so there maybe a special but I don’t know.

Final FYI the Birnbaum coupon is accepted with no qualms.

CBS has a separate bakery that does not require any reservations. Although in my opinion, it’s really nothing special. I would better off head over to Amorette’s, they have lots of speciality pastries. If cake is more your thing, McKenna’s Bakery NYC is also a great option. It may cater to the gluten free crowd, but the cakes there look quite decadent, even if you don’t have the said allergy!

Trust me You will need a coupon for Cake Bake ..and it will still be expensive.
What are the other coupons good for?
The description mentions over $400 in value.

Off the top of my head: Rainforest Cafe, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Raglan Road, Cookes of Ireland. Many others but I only took the coupons I planned to use and left the book at home- also Paddlefish. The CBS coupon paid for the book and then some.
You can find the actual value of some coupons on the CBS thread.

We went last week on a Thurs night around 8:30 as a walk-up, and were able to get seated, even though the app showed no available reservations. We just had dessert... shared a piece of the Millionaire's cake and had iced coffees. My daughter was celebrating a birthday, so the waitress put a candle in the cake and did some special fairy dust sprinkle as she blew out the candle. I must say, I wasn't expecting much based on some of the reviews, but we all agreed that this was one of the best pieces of cake we'd ever had. The coconut iced latte was amazing too.
