Just received my akl ressie in the mail... reserved on the 7 for 4 deal... origionally booked 2 deluxe pool view rooms end of Sept.,( taking dbil who has never been to WDW and our 4 yr.old)... called few days later and got quote for concierge... got the ok from husband as it is our 10th anniv.... excited as i've never done concirege and we are on a great pkg.... all a blessing... called next day to confirm and got price quoted the day before... only to find that when they mailed my ressies it says I only upgraded one room...one stayed deluxe pool... we are paid in full, but maxed on budget... called to get this straightened out only to eventually be told by guest services that it would be 624. more...they can't help the confussion... thats it or I could cancel concierge all together and go back to deluxe... I would have never moved only one room to concierge and even asked the agent if the rate quoted was for both rooms... no way to prove it... so sad...will just leave things as they are for now and pray somthing will work out...
just a word of caution: BE sure of what you have booked! I thought I was and look where I am now...
will try to make the best of it... any suggestions would be appreciated...

I think that having part of your group in concierge and part not will be quite awkward...

If I couldn't swing the additional $ to upgrade the second room, I'd probably downgrade the concierge room.

That should put $624 back in your dining and playing budget, right?

we will probably go one way or the other...too soon to make a decision... ressie agent told me this is not uncommon for a party to book one concierge and one not... seems rather rediculous to me but to each his own... i can only say that the reason for taking a trip together in our family is that... to be together... it is just disheartening but will not let this ruin our magic... if it were my error Iwould have an easier time swallowing this, but I'm sure of what I asked for ... anyway there is pleanty of fun to look forward to either way:D

Look at it this way. With one room in concierge, that pretty much gives all of you access to the lounge and refreshments if you want, just not access to the concierge desk help. But I agree with other people, if you can't swing the change, I don't think the refreshments are worth $624. You could easily spend that on nice restaurants and fun activities.

That is absolutely NOT the case. The only people who will have access to the lounge are the guests registered in the concierge room. The concierge will be happy to book PS's for your entire party, but the entire party is not welcome in the concierge lounge.

I agree with Kathy, I think it will be rather awkward. It seems like you might have a slightly tight budget that was stretched by the upgrade, I'd go back to deluxe and have extra $$ for some great meals.

have a great trip whatever you decide.

How many people are staying in your room? If it is fewer than 5, keep your reservations the way they are, then get your BIL's name added to your room and just pay the $25/night extra adult fee. That way he gets concierge services AND his own room and it's not against the rules.

IMHO, the deluxe savannah rooms aren't worth it. I couldn't tell a difference between a deluxe and regular room.

thanks for the input... one question in my mind... is the concierge service worth the money? We would like to have the experience, but we don't intend to "eat our moneys' worth" so to speak ... maybe a glass of wine and a bowl of cereal a couple times, but would enjoy being pampered a bit... still leaning toward the " its not worth it" side... want to make the trip special, but really...
bojangles - I have stayed standard and seen deluxe and you are right... they are really not much, if any nicer...why didn't Disney do that a little better? Its the newest deluxe... they should know we'd like a little more room it the bathroom and maybe a nicer bedspread for a deluxe...pay no attention...have thought about this stuff too much for one day...my coach is turning into a pumpkin... must turn in for the night...
thanks again for the suggestions all... :)

If I can't afford to upgrade the other room to concierge..then I would downgrade both rooms.

daniluvsdisney,

I am not a real fan of concierge, myself. I would rather have a villa to have more room to spread out in.
I have a technical question, could you get that same deal for Beach Club Villas? I was just wondering how that would price out compared to the 2 concierge rooms. The thing about a 2 BR unit is there is a lot of space to spread out in. There is also a living room in addition to a full kitchen (you could put your own favorite wine and sodas in the full sized refrigerator) and there is a jacuzzi in the master bedroom. While you don't have to use it, each 1 and 2 BR unit has it's own washer and dryer.
Also, with a 2 BR unit, your rooms will be together. With 2 separate rooms, they may or may not be...

i must say it is lookong more and more like concierge is not for us... the 2bd. villa would be great but not sure how it would price out... will call today... probably more... what other deluxe would you reccomend cking that has great pool and magic feel to it?

As for concierge--the one time I have had it we were in and out so much that we never even used the services or amenities. I would much rather have the goodies or souvenirs you can buy with the extra $$. You are already so upset about the situation that I think if it the service ends up being a disappointment that you might really beat yourself up about it. It is not worth it. I bet your deluxe rooms will be great. Have a wonderful trip whatever you decide.

We never ate or drank our money's worth in concierge (Poly). It just wasn't for us. They could not get us any of the PS that we couldn't get before we left home, and the desk didn't really arrange anything for us. It was our first trip, so we could of used the help, but there were always 4 or 5 people waiting so we never took the time. The strollers they had would have been nice, but they were always gone already by the time we got there. The food was ok, but not worth it in my opinion. We will never do concierge again. In fact, we do BCV studios now so we can have the extra little kitchenette and we love it!
