I will be booking a smaller DVC at Christmas at 11 mth mark and need 2 units. If I reserve 2 DVC units at 11 mths for a 5 day trip, can I call back within 4 days to add on extra days for those units--meaning it is still more than 11 mths out for anyone else to book those particular units? Since 11 mths is also the earliest to book airlines, we might need to move a day or so around to coordinate flights--I don't want to book the whole 7 days, b/c I would have to borrow points and we might only need 5 days, depending on flights. Thanks, Elaine

I'm not sure I understand the issue. I'd probably book the 7 days right away at the first check in day, and then call and cancel a day or so if need be. The points will go back into your account anyway that far ahead, so no need to worry about losing points.

Okay, I just re-read it, and you are trying to avoid borrowing points if you need to. I guess then you should just book the 5 days and add day 6 or 7 as needed if necessary.

You can book up to 7 nights 11 months in advance of date of arrival. If. for example, you want an eighth night, you can call exactly 11 months out from date of arrival and book 7, then call the very next day and book the eighth, a day later to book ninth, etc. In your case if booking 5, you can immediately add 2 and can add a third night by calling a day later.

Now be aware of the following: Christmas week is extreme high demand time. If you call Jan 25 to book 5 nights starting Christmas and wait a few days to book two more you may well find that you can't get them because all rooms for those extra nights may be booked, particularly if one of those nights is New Years Eve, the highest DVC demand night of the year.

Not sure what airline you plan to fly, but many airlines book only 330 days in advance, which is not the same as 11 months. For example, a return flight on Dec 31 may not be availabe to book until Feb 4. This does make it hard to book 11 months out with borrowed points if you need to get plane tickets when the window first opens. Best of luck -- Suzanne
