Rescheduling due to medical issue?

My husband has to have major pancreatic surgery within the next week. We are due to arrive at WDW for our first DVC stay on 11/29. So worried about my husband, but yes, also bummed that we will probably need to reschedule our fantastical, magical, perfectly planned vacation. WDW will always be there, though, and if we don't make it as planned, I look forward to a belated celebratory trip soon.

Has anyone else had to reschedule due to similar circumstances? Hoping DVC will be understanding and flexible.

The rule is your points will go into holding if you cancel less than 31 days before the trip. Then can be used to rebook anything available at 60 days or less before travel, expiring if unused at the end of your UY.

There is a possibility DVC will waive the rule if you explain the circumstances. But no guarantee.

They will work with you, get a letter from the doctor have it ready just in case and call MS. Many people have had their points put back in the UY in these situations

There isn't a guarantee on this - many people have not had points placed back unrestricted into their UY. But the normal rules and restrictions really aren't that bad.

I am always very NERVOUS about trip cancellations; have elderly relatives, etc..too many unforeseen circumstances can arise. We always get DVC trip insurance just "in case"....

Here is my story concerning canceling at the last minute on a DCL booked using points:
DD(Adult) was scheduled to go with us on our family cruise. The week before the cruise the war in Iraq started and her BiL was KIA. The funeral was scheduled for the week of the cruise. We had to cancel her out of our room. We had booked her cruise on DVC points, DCL & DVC refunded the points without restrictions once I provided proof.

Today would be 31 days so the points would not go into holding if you cancel today.
