ok I own 200 ponts at SSR with Aug use year I am very much interested in adding more but can't make my mind up so any advice is welcome. we do not nor do we plan on using points for anything except staying at Disney World Resorts. I have over heard rumors on buses over time that if you buy resale at SSR that is the only place you can use those points and others claim that is totally wrong they are good at any DVC resort on Disney property.

That is totally wrong. You can use them at any DVC resort on Disney property. Period.

That's the standard scare tactic they are using to dissuade people from buying resale. We heard it when we spoke with our guide in October and heard it again last week talking to a DVC kiosk guy. I won't believe it until it happens. It's BS. And if it isn't and we have to stay at BCV because we own resale points there.....Oh darn.

There's no legal way for them to restrict points redemption to the home resort for resales. The limitations placed on resales are limited to perks that the Disney company provides, not to DVC controlled assets. DVC cannot legally make a distinction between the two.

Now, there is always an element of truth in the sales pitch scare tactics. "If you don't buy X, you won't be able to stay there because the owners will book everything before your booking window opens." Sometimes they stop talking, or buyers stop listening before the "because." Or they simply don't understand the "because" and make their own assumption.

Your cheapest option/best $$$ value will be more SSR points. However, getting a different home resort that offers you something that you couldn't get otherwise might be worth a higher cost. You'll have to make that call.
